Not an unfair point of view. However, my point isn't that they're the '77 Canadiens, but they are, in fact, fairly relentless - in both games and series, particularly as the playoffs move towards the end. A fair number of games, plus two series, where they've been behind, and have won. Kinda relentless.

And 11 goals in 3 games against the betterRangersdefense later, they're up 3-0. Nothing should be taken for granted of course, but it's looking pretty good for them.

They're not relentless, they're just inefficient. They have the talent to drive the pace of the game but play very conservative, so when they fall back they start to get away from their style of game and are able to do so successfully due to their overall skill.

I mean, people always say that the Avs comeback wins were fluky and they're right to a degree, but it's a factor of luck, change in strategy, *and* the opposition being passive. It's why every game we were close but behind, I had some expectation that we could pull it (meaning game tying goal) off; we didn't always, of course, but the series against the Wild is a prime example.

Blackhawks are more entertaining overall because they don't play Sutter hockey.

it's amazing how Seguin's potential makes 3 NHL teams look terrible. The Oilers for not picking the center that could've turned their sad sack of a franchise around, ditto the Leafs for trading the pick to Boston, and the Bruins for giving up him for a guy who was over the hill 3 years ago.

Hall is an amazing player, I don't really blame the Oilers for passing on Seguin -- it's not a whiff like Yakupov has been (thus far).

Bruins fucked up. I thought they'd end up getting the better of it long-term, but obviously that was wrong; I was counting highly on Smith and Eriksson, but the latter has been a disappointment while the former actually performed faster than expected.

I think Nashville is legit and built for a solid run if Rinne keeps on form when he returns from injury. They've always had a solid D corps and now they're starting to score consistently and Rinne when on form is world class. They're a balanced group, a lot to like.

NYI's PDO actually indicates they've been a little bit unlucky so far this year despite their success. Garth Snow somehow made some solid moves this year to shore up their back end and they have a ton of young/prime talent on the offensive side of things. It's possible this year that they've finally arrived and might be around for a while at the top of their division.

Chicago is obviously built for the playoffs, as are LA. St.Louis is spitting hot fire in the regular season again, but just like SJ, until they finally get over the hump when it matters it's hard to consider them real contenders. There's not much that inspires in the East. Tampa maybe, and Pitt can always scare you but beyond that who is going to make noise against the West? Boston if they get their shit together? Carey Price might put all those midgets on his back.
