Holden made a mistake. He didn't get close to injuring anyone. You can't emulate the Wild without that key fact.

For a guy who is supposed to be a decent PKer, Cliche seems to have 0 defensive awareness. Or perhaps he just doesn't have situational awareness. Either way, let's just bench him.

Lando gets it. Good, clean hit on Brodin. More of that.

I haven't watched very many Wild games and I know Granlund started putting up points in the 2nd half, but was he this good for the last half of the season? Seems like he's really coming into his own here and it's hard not to be impressed by him. On a related note, fuck off Granlund.

This is so late, it should have happened in Game 4 for sure. But better late than never.

Is Colorado playing better or are the Wild playing worse? It's crazy to see how much line match ups are affecting these games. The play is definitely more open than in Minny.

Yeo is just another neanderthal among many in the National Hockey League. We aren't playing that great, but the last change helps and so does being more physical. More than anything, the transition is a bit better because we're being a little bit more patient -- need to increase that further as we're still mindlessly giving up possession too much, but that's the biggest change.

It also probably goes back to losing Barrie. Our transition and movement through the neutral zone has been pretty stagnant/shitty.

I'd be ok with it. He'd bring an element that we don't have beyond EJ.

Joey Hishon actually looked like a child lining up against Haula. Didn't realize he was as small as that. All his head injuries prevented him from doing much physical activity and it shows. He needs to bulk up some.

Peter Mueller is on the US WC roster. If he's still decent, he'd be a good and cheap re-addition / replacement for Parenteau.

He would be a literal replacement. He does not fit onto this team at all.

I disagree. Mueller can't skate very well but he provides every other tool that Parenteau doesn't. He would also be a considerable asset on the PP.

That entire shift outlined why Malone and Bordeleau aren't really NHLers. Appreciate the effort, but 2 turnovers and Malone just completely fucked up a decent scoring chance.

But a direct result of a PK lapse. :colbert:

Also, McGinn was without a stick due to that. So it was essentially 5-on-4 anyway.

Like night and day at home vs on the road. We were pretty solid on the road this year, so that's interesting to see.

Late change is a huge advantage, but the Wild started being more trappy in games 3 and 4. Tonight I feel that Minnesota tried to continue that, but we took away a lot of the initiative from them; not enough to assume a victory despite the current lead, but definitely enough to make it competitive.

There were some signs of it in game 4, so I was cautiously optimistic entering tonight, but I didn't expect them to completely turn things around. I think the coaching staff deserves credit for finally letting the goonery rain free. We've gotten away with a lot of shit through the first 2 periods. It's what I wanted to see last game in response of the injury, and we finally are.

Of course, the actual real hockey stuff like not panicking with the puck, having more patience exiting the defensive zone, and things of that nature are probably more relevant, but....uh...skilled thuggery! Yay!

No, seriously, a little more patience and aggressiveness on the forecheck with better line matches (including trying to balance out the lines / grit) are helping. Still a work in progress though.

Bump Cliche down to the 4th where he belongs and throw Hishon out there with Talbot and let Talbot cover any shit Hishon gets himself into. He's better suited in that role than Cliche is, I think.

Talbot has been a monster this series.

I admitted to possibly being wrong a dozen games after his acquisition, and finally acquiesced a bit beyond that, but damn. I bow down to the front office on that ddecision.

Guy is definitely a gamer in the playoffs, we've seen that his entire career. I was also not pleased with the pickup initially, but he fits the role better than Downie ever could/would. Definitely a guy we need more than Downie, as much as it pains me to say it.
