A player approaching unrestricted free agency will listen to other teams' financial offers. How shocking.

Rask should've won the Vezina and Varly should have won the Hart

If we lose Stastny, please sign Goc to center the 3rd line.

Would be a really interesting pick. Probably Top 5 in terms of talent in this draft... Fuckin' headcase though.

Pretty crazy that we can lose two guys of that calibre and still be pretty solid down the middle.

He is a great playmaker. I don't see why it's stupid. Depends on the money.

Interested in seeing what Ehrhoff gets.

He's a good player, but not at a real position of need.

Ehrhoff would be a good addition.

Stastny's history, I think.

Ehrhoff would be nice. Varlamov beats women with bikes and he's still a better person than Del Zotto is. He is a cancer. No thank you.

I don't mind getting Stuart but for a 2016 2nd and 6th? Yikes. Why is this team handing out draft picks like candy? Sure the 6th and 5th rounders may not end up being much and if they do would be by luck but a 2nd rounder has great depth and has generated good talent for this team: stastny, ror. :(

Still makes no sense that we traded Parenteau for another forward and kicked in a draft pick. His contract is no where near an albatross.

As for Stastny signing with St. Louis, that's no surprise; he should have been traded at the deadline.

Poor job in asset management for Stuart too, he's not worth a 2nd at his age.

Stuart commanding a 2nd isn't a big surprise given how pricey defense is now. Show me a better trade or signing.

I'm willing to concede on Stuart (still find it questionable but whatever); however, how does it make sense to treat Parenteau as if he has a bad contract when he's only 1 year removed from a very successful offensive season, hasn't struggled ever since he broke through on the Isles, and is only 31 years old?

Briere is rubbish outside of the playoffs. I like him, but he's a shell of his former self. Not only did they trade for him, they also tossed in a pick as if the Habs are doing us a favor taking PAP off our hands. Please.

Iginla is a good signing, though we'll see whether there's any buyers remorse come the 3rd season. Iginla and a good return for Parenteau shouldn't have been mutually exclusive.

Sure, I think his days were numbered no matter what. I'm just disappointed we couldn't get defensive help in return and I don't think Iginla makes the trade any more logical. Iginla is more of a swap for Stastny than PAP; at least, unless we somehow unload Briere.

Also, I'd have preferred Hemsky over Briere, Iginla and Parenteau. He went for $4M/year at the same term.

The Avs have been shopping Parenteau for months. I think it's pretty clear he doesn't have much value around the league. He isn't a 3rd line player, he doesn't even think so himself, he just wasn't going to fit here for another year, and no one was going to straight take him as a cap dump because teams don't want to do that right now.

He still managed to be on pace for about 50 points despite being not in the usual role where he was successful prior to that. He's comfortably a top-9 forward with not a particularly high cap hit nor term. Granted the heavier UFA contracts are more defensive oriented, just seems weird that he was a cap dump -- it's absurd.

When PAP isn't scoring, he's useless. He's lazy defensively and soft everywhere on the ice. 4M is good for his level of production, but beyond that, he brings nothing.

I have no idea how he'll do under Therrien. I wouldn't be surprised to see him benched frequently.

Yeah, we all know his limitations but in the end he more or less earns his contract in offensive production...hence I don't see how he is a cap casualty.

I don't know he'll do in Montreal, but maybe Briere will do better for us. Therrien misused him.

The Avs certainly got the inferior player in the PAP deal. That trade was simply about getting $4M freed up for next offseason, nothing more. At least I hope that's what it was. I have a feeling Briere is going to stink though. Don't like this trade.

Don't mind the Stuart trade. Poor asset management perhaps - giving up a 2nd - but the Avs simply needed someone back there who knows how to play defense next season.

Also don't mind the Winchester signing. Good face-off guy, good PK guy on the 4th line. And one who knows there's a net at the far side of the rink. Cliche isn't going to cut it.

And of course the Iginla signing is good. I have a feeling the Avs are going to enjoy that contract for 2 years and hate it for 1 year, but is still good.

Stastny leaving will hurt, but the Avs never intended to sign him. That was all lip service. They fucked up though, by not trading him at last year's deadline. It's stupid to give away UFAs like that for nothing.

O'Reilly will do it from Duchene's wing. MacKinnon will do a competent job as the other center due to his talents, but will be aided with some vets on his sides. So we should be OK.

But if O'Reilly is gone then we're kind of fucked.

Had decent numbers in Switzerland and AHL. Never saw his six games here. Potential gamer but one way contract seems a little overconfident in his numbers for a team with two talented right shots ahead of him.

For 625k a year, seems like a whatever deal. If he ends up being serviceable, then why the hell not. No idea how he plays but if he can provide 8-10 minutes of mistake free hockey he'll be better than anybody on our 4th line.

I saw he got 51 points in the AHL a few years ago and assumed he was a forward for some reason. So yeah, replace 4th line with 3rd pairing. If he can hold his own for 15 minutes a night then great. If not, it's not like he's a burden on the cap.
