Basically, it looks like a case of growing pains, where young guys overachieve then rest on the laurels... Iginla might be too old to throw this team on his back, but that's what needs to happen.

Anyone still watching anymore? Anyone watching hockey now a days at all? I am likely in the minority, but I haven't been able to enjoy anything this season or last year's playoffs. Think hockey is dying for me. :(

Nice! Yea, I don't watch TV either. I am getting a lot into baseball and the more I do, the more I realize how bad of a GM/Coach tandem Sakic/Roy have been. lol. Hopefully that changes, but man its terribad.

TCF is probably the better bet. New Vikes stadium isn't even projected to be done until sometime in 2016, and it's indoor.

I'm going to cancel my NHL GameCenter subscription after this season.

On the plus side my career is doing as well as it ever has. So I really don't care about the Avs.

This season is pretty much garbage I still tune into most games, but my expectations are pretty low for this squad.

Avs suck. Trade somebody for a top level defender. If it takes this year's top pick to make it happen, so be it.

No, don't deal away our 1st. I can't believe we traded our 2nd for fucking Stuart. Yeesh.

Roy was pissed last night and called most of the young Top 6 guys out. Just trade ROR and get this over with. We're going to wait too long and deal him for nothing at next year's deadline because he's a UFA.

Johnson has been pretty baller this year... Shatty would never have developed like he has here. I'm whatever about it.

Seriously though, RoR is toast, hanging on to him is helping how? He's pretty fucking useless right now. All he does is take the puck away in the neutral zone, which would be helpful if he or the rest of the top six was in any way potent.

I was at the game last night, and the first and third periods were laughable. It was a fucking joke. To come out, as a professional, against a team that was smoked the night before in Arizona, that flat... It's fucking unacceptable. Patrick Roy should be pissed off. They're a total joke right now. Nobody is afraid of them.

Get it to-fucking-gether men. Jesus.

Agree with Getz here. Johnson has been the lone shining light on the Avs this season. (Well, scratch that - Pickard played great when he was up also). Would rather have him at this point.

But the rest of the team was fucking awful. Duchene and MacKinnon look like they need some more seasoning in Canadian junior hockey. No one can complete a pass to another player on the move. This is awful, horrible, dreadful team hockey we're watching here. I was also at the game. Enjoyed the Dale's Pale Ale more than the hockey.

That was a stupidly good game by Varlamov. He could barely stand in the post game interview.

Terrible performance by the rest of the team, sans the first 1:17.

They should have just worked something out around Johnson and Stewart. Whatever draft picks or prospects going to St. Louis to even it out. At this point the Avs will be lucky if Siemens becomes a regular, third pairing, defensive specialist.

Because Armstrong wasn't doing the deal without Shattenkirk. He came out and said so much afterwards.

EJ > Shattenkirk

The only tragedy is how the 1st rounder appears to have been wasted.

“I do think it’s more likely than not he goes.... The one thing you know is it’s been different in years past, where you’ve had him under contract for awhile. And you never know how it’s going to work with new ownership in Arizona. We’ve always had questions about that.

“But I do think – I mean, there’s been a lot of talk about him going to Colorado for Ryan O’Reilly. I think that’s an interesting deal. It’s tough to pinpoint exactly how much there is to that. But that rumor has kind of been out there for a few days.

“... The one thing that Don Maloney has made clear is he needs to restock his cupboard of young, offensive players. He’s got Boedker. He’s got Max Domi coming, who had a great junior tournament. He wants more. I think if you can give him what he wants, you can get Keith Yandle.”

He is. Without him and the goaltending, the Avs would be Edmonton v2.

And we should maybe move this McDavid thread to the Wild group. Demp, what's wrong with that team?

I'm too high to remember the year, but it was Ho-Sang's minor midget year, and McDavid was a year younger and was playing with the Marlies minor midget team. Nobody thought he was gonna stick with the Marlies, and they were just kinda trying him out at the time. I was at the Toronto Titans tournament, and it might have been his first game in minor midget...I know nobody else had seen him that year.

That Marlies team was just fucking dominant. They had a guy Jaden Lindo who was just a fucking bowling ball. He didn't really have the skill to score much at a higher level, but he was fucking people up. But Ho-Sang was the big deal. Everyone thought he was going #1 overall in the OHL Draft that year, and everybody said that Windsor was trying to find a way to get him. EVERYONE was at there to see Ho-Sang in his first minor midget tournament. They had McDavid on their second line, and halfway through the first period of the Marlies' first game, I texted a Knights scout who shall remain nameless "fuck, McDavid's already better than Ho-Sang, and he's a year younger."

It was like a year later, I hadn't been paying attention to hockey because my mom had gotten her diagnosis and I was feeling like absolute shit. One day, I get a text from that Knights scout "I gotta give you credit, you called McDavid right from the start." I had to look it up, but sure enough, they gave McDavid that exemption and he was drafted higher than Ho-Sang if I remember correctly (Washington recreational weed is fantastic... did McDavid go 2nd overall in that draft? or was it Ekblad who went 2nd the year before?) and Windsor got him to absolutely nobody's surprise.

I was never a Sakic fan, and I feel the same way about all the stars and halfway stars the Avs have had at forward since Forsberg and Turgeon. I like MacKinnon's game, but I'm just not a fan. Gimme McDavid.

I know Briere sucks now, but he's going to go mvp mode once the playoffs start. If I was a team with some cap space I'd totally bring him in for a run.

It totally depends on the health of the strong teams at the deadline, IMO. If Anaheim has a blueline injury, for example, Hejda could bring a 2nd/3rd round draft pick. Briere? Probably no better than a 4th.

Thr guy they should look to trade is Tanguay. He'd bring back some value. Unfortunately, they'll probably keep him, so 17,000 fans can jerk off as they raise his number into the rafters.

Avs are doomed without EJ. Obviously. This is now - quite easily - the worst defensive corps in the NHL.

Thank God we traded a 2nd for Stuart in what appears to be one of the strongest drafts in a decade. If we do fall to that 8-10 range, Kylington or Werenski might be hanging around there and they'd both be great D picks.

It's a small sample size, but if those guys are gone I really liked what I saw from Mikko Rantanen in World Juniors. He's a winger at least.

Myers to the Jets, so he's off the table for a ROR deal.

Avs are likely going to let O'R walk just like Stastny. Rebuild will then be over.

JB, we have two months. It's time to pony up some NFL draft discussion in the other thread. The floor is yours...

At this point I would totally do ROR for Yandle, assuming we can get an extension for Yandle.

He's not perfect, but he can drive possession like a beast and really strengthens our powerplay.

Oh yea, before we forget about the trade.

Getting Tyler Myers for Evander Kane was a goddamn steal for the Jets. I really don't get the Evander Kane love. Plus he loves Lil Wayne, so there's that too.

Completely unrelated: I really don't like Crawford. I can't believe he makes more than Varly. Just a shitpile.
