Sweet mother of god, wtf is going on?!

5-17 shots, Wild led 1-0 and now it's 4-1 Hawks.

Why the hell is he still there? The kids are better than him. Trade him now before he walks for nothing.

I think he'd waive it. He's got to know that the Wild are keen on the kids and that they would rather spend the money elsewhere.

What're the odds he doesn't get re-signed because of this?

Very good.

Darcy Kuemper has been good when he has played and then they have Matt Hackett too. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing the Caps did and go with both kids in net. A couple of 23yr old's being the 1A and 1B on the team.

Unless Harding finally has a handle on his meds, maybe they go after a veteran for the AHL as the 3rd depth guy in case one of the youngsters needs a little more time but the way they've played when called up (Hackett last year, Kuemper this year), I think Fletcher is probably learning towards going with either 1 or both next year I would think.

Just a guess...

Gustafsson comes over to play in Houston next year and both Kuemper and Hackett are on the Wild to start the season. Wild have an unreal stable of goaltenders right now, Johan is probably one of the best in the SEL and could possibly steal the #1 job from DK and MH in a year or two.

PMB to be a healthy scratch again. Early way of saying "we're not re-signing you"?

They've been saying that all season. If they could move him, they would. He's probably the guy on the team with the "change of scenery" tag that desperately needs it. He's been replaced by Zucker long ago.

I think PMB goes at the deadline for a 3rd if there is any interest, 3rd at the most.

Wild sign defenseman Brett Clark to a 1yr 900k deal.

I expect someone is getting traded now that the Wild have 8 defensemen and Brodin isn't/should not get sent down. Either they move a forward or a d-man, I think a forward (PMB maybe).

I see the Wild as being buyers, unless someone massively overpays for Setoguchi to get some veteran help on the blueline, I think Fletcher makes a small deal or two at the deadline to add some more balls to the bottom 6 and a 3rd pairing defensive defenseman type, a shot blocking hard hitting type of guy.

I meant buyers. My mistake, if you read that post with me saying buyers, it makes more sense. I also didn't sleep a wink this weekend (really bad stretch of insomnia that was remedied today with sleeping pills, which I was avoiding for a long time).

And I doubt we'd get any bites by shopping him. Even so, I see Granlund and Zucker in the lineup if the Wild make the playoffs.

Here are some impending UFA d-men on teams that might sell:

Visnovsky
Gonchar
Hainsey
Streit
Regehr
Zidlicky
Leopold
Poti
Smid
Corvo

I don't think any of them could be had for more than an AHLer and/or a late round pick.

Islanders are in a tough situation. They have a great shot at making the playoffs and that's extra revenue that they desperately need and the buzz created from that could help them in the long run as well. I don't know if Visnovsky and Streit are 100% available yet. But the guys in bold, I would say most definitely.

Oilers desperately need Ladislav Smid to sign. He leads that team in hits and shots blocked and is probably their most reliable and stable blueliner, the Oilers might have to over pay to keep him in Edmonton though, there are contenders that would love to have him but the Oilers blueline would be even worse than it is right now without him. I would say he's available at this point. But then again, Tambellini might be the dumbest GM in the NHL, funny how the Oilers & Flames can both brag about which Gm is more inept, Feaster or Steve.

Also, Joe Corvo sucks.

Weed will do that for you, I don't like smoking any kind of cig type thing even though I actually didn't mind it when I did for a brief period. I don't like the sleeping pills though, I might take it tonight to see how I sleep.

I know you might be mad, Lifer, but Pominville is a pretty good player that isn't a rental. It will suck that Hackett was given up but remember, the team still has Gustafsson and Kuemper. Those picks though, damn.

Wild always had a good top line, what they added was damn good top 6 depth. Fletcher sees this opportunity as the Pens saw 2008. You gotta make a big play after the summer you just had, it's a good move. It's an over payment, sure, but if you look at Jason's numbers this year, it is. I've seen way too much of the Sabres in the Eastern Conference and I've always liked his game. He's a 70-80pt winger, that's a huge move by Fletcher to get him for a very good goaltending prospect and a decent winger, the picks were a lot though, but if this gets the Wild past the 1st round at least, it's going to be worth it for the revenue cost and showing the NHL free agents that the Wild aren't some joke trying to sign stars to huge contracts like the Rangers.

Potential line-up?

Parise, Koivu, Pominville
Heatley, Brodziak, Setoguchi
Coyle, Bouchard, Clutterbuck
Mitchell, Konopka, Rupp

Cullen is out for at least 2 games, but when he's back, the Wild have some depth to work with for sure.

Coyle has been doing fine there, from what I have seen he's had his lumps as a rookie but he looks pretty good right now. I would still want to see the guy in the AHL the rest of the year to play top line minutes and top pk minutes. But the Parise-Koivu duo has been solid, it's that 3rd cog that's been missing and maybe Pominville is it. If he doesn't work then Setoguchi has to be tried there instead.

Lifer wrote:Nothing says those picks can't be reacquired later on down the line. Plus, it doesn't really remove anyone from the NHL lineup so it's a definite upgrade right now. They had the glut of prospects and could probably afford to make a trade like this but damn. Jason Pominville? Is he the guy you want to make that trade for? I understand that maybe he was the best available for that price at this year's deadline but that doesn't mean you have to pull the trigger.

I guess I'll just say I'm skeptical of the deal but will reserve judgment until later. That said, I would have rather just sat on it and waited to see what this team could do and still have Hackett, Larsson, 2013 1st, and 2014 2nd to use at the draft.

Lastly, this almost guarantees Heatley is either traded or bought out this offseason.

Heater is likely bought out, that cap hit is going to be insanely undesirable going into next year's cap for any team.

His buy out is when he earns 5m. That's easier to swallow than the 8 he earned last year and the 6 he earns this year + the 5m.

All I know is that with Hackett in Buffalo, I wouldn't be surprised if Detroit waits on re-signing Howard and tries to go after Miller in the off season.

dempsey_k wrote:That would make sense. Acquiring Miller follows their pattern with Hasek and Cujo. I'd imagine they'd want to get Boyle too. They're still biting themselves for missing out on Suter.

I don't think anyone had a shot with Suter, he wanted to go to 1 team and went there, the rest as we know is a bunch of teams missing out, but is it really missing out if a guy has a place in mind to begin with?

And yeah, Miller is a Detroit boy and Detroit has been interested in him for years, this might be their chance to actually have a legit shot to trade for him. Maybe they offer Howard a 1-2yr deal and involve him in the trade so Buffalo gets a veteran back as well. I could definitely see that happening though, Howard + 1st + a top prospect going to Buffalo for Miller.

Buffalo goes with a Howard/Hackett/Enroth battle in camp.
