He seems like an obvious bust at this point but does he have anyone to play with? If the team is complete shit what's he supposed to do?

The first few games he was playing on the Comets first line with Valk and Grenier (or Archibald?).

However he was recently moved to the Comets checking line with Bancks and Hamilton. Seemingly the move is to get him playing more engaged.

He seems like your version of Devils former first rounder Stefan Matteau. All the tools but lacking production. At 6th overall versus 29th (or whatever he was) has to sting like a motherfucker. Every team has that happen to them but it sucks when you don't have much in the youth system as it stings a lot more.

He compares to Raffi Torres. Which is not very good value for a 6th overall pick. Right now, though, he's not even really trending like Torres was.

Well it also stings when the risks were widely recognized in advance of the pick, but the team telegraphs for weeks that they are going to take him regardless, because of where he grew up.

As much as I disliked the pick, I still think he is a lot better than he has shown this season. Given his good speed and strength, and somewhat decent puck skills, he should be a good AHLer at this point. But that fact that he is once again underperforming is really disheartening.

Hopefully he is just off to a slow start and he manages to make an impact in the AHL this season. Otherwise those Raffi Torres comparisons are going to look optimistic.

Virtanen has been heating up. Four goals in his last five games.

Boeser is having wrist surgery and will be out until January. No WJCs for him.

Juolevi is a lock for Finland. Brisebois is at Canada's pre WJC camp, but is a longshot to make the final cut. Jasek is at the Czech camp and has a decent chance. Lockwood had a good start to the season, but wasn't invited to the US camp. Now he's injured. Hopefully he makes it next year.
