They gotta get rid of the Subban kid. Weisbrod's scouting report is probably just:

☐ White ☐ Asian ☐ Brown ☑ Black

Wonder what his scouting report for Josh Ho-Sang was.

Forsling with an assist less than a minute into Linkoping's game today. I'm just going to keep pretending he's one of our prospects. :why:

Forsling's first of the year at 0:20. Nice clapper, can't wait to see him in a Canucks uni.

It would be pretty shitty if we traded Forsling because we didn't want to wait four years to see how he turned out.

Also, I just found out that Patrick White played 26 KHL games last year and had zero points.

It's all part of the plan. He leaves Boston so that they hire a terrible GM, comes to their second rival (because Montreal would never hire a prairie boy) to ruin the team, then returns when Sweeney is fired and performs way better thus securing a job in Boston for at least ten years. As long as he has his roster wall, that is.

So as pointed out by "Froshaug Fan" today...

That's me, someone stole my Killface handle over there.

I knew Forsling was having a great start to the season, but I didn't have much context until I looked it up today. Credit to http://www.quanthockey.com, it has some useful tools that I haven't found anywhere else.

Also it's funny to see posters on HFCanucks try to discredit the SHL now that Nylander and Forsling have excelled there.

Jake Virtanen got player of the game in Canada's final prelim game against Sweden, in which they gave up a 5-1 lead and ended up winning 7-6. Also three of Sweden's goals went through the net.

Marner and Strome were probably more impressive given their ridiculous ability to control the puck, but Virtanen is getting open in the right spots. Should put him with the Sedins.

Disappointing that Jasek was a late cut for the Czechs.

Tryamkin's KHL team is in the Spangler Cup this year. Their first game is against Canada at 11am on boxing day.

His production and especially his ice time has seen a big improvement this season. When Megalinsky went down with an injury Tryamkin was regularly Avtomobilist's number one defenseman. Now the big question is does he sign with the Canucks this spring, since they lose his rights after June 1st.

Virtanen looking anything but real good again today. He's just such a dumb player who has no idea how to use his teammates. Hopefully he can at least become a Dustin Brown type straight line pest in the NHL.

Forsling looks so deadly on the powerplay. Like a lefthanded Salo with his one timer. Smart player in his own zone as well.

I've never really watched Virtanen at a junior level but thought the criticisms were being overblown by Canucks fans for a young player in the NHL. Then I watched some of his world juniors shifts. Yikes, everyone is right. He really doesn't think the game well at all, passing behind players or well out of their reach. Basically the exact opposite player of a Sedin.

I love how there was so much hype behind getting Virtanen back for the world juniors. Then after watching him play everybody must've realized that he really wasn't any better than anyone else they had, and probably worse considering his discipline issues. But I guess that's what happens when you surround a kid with Sheriff Prust and Deputy Dorsett.

Virtanen, having proven he's not good enough for the World Juniors, let alone the NHL, now goes back to the Hitmen, right?

He took 3 penalties in the game they were eliminated in, including (I think) 2 on the same play that were really stupid and Finland scored on the PP.

I think generally it's the fact that all the knocks against him - he is a north-south player that can't distribute the puck, is poor at opening the ice for his linemates, and lacks discipline - were all on clear display in the game. He hasn't proven his supporters right, but on his biggest stage yet, he made a very convincing argument for all his detractors.

Can anyone tell me what Dane Fox's off ice issues were?

He's second in the ECHL in goal scoring, but Utica refuses to call him up. Instead they are signing plugs like Marino, Kellen Jones, and Pereira to PTOs.

It's a shame that the Canucks will lose him for nothing when his ELC expires this summer without giving him a sniff in the AHL.

Don't think anyone even knows. Just that the London Knights benched him a few times and then sent him packing to Erie.

Given what we know about Weisbrod that's probably enough for the team to decide he doesn't get a chance.

To be fair, they weren't going to get anything for him. Fucking shame, though. The kid can clearly score goals and not getting even a legit look at the AHL is an organizational failure.
