The more I think about it, 4 of the 5 games we've lost have been kinda 50/50 games, and the Canucks have just come out of it on the wrong side. The way they lose them sucks though.

Granted, I might just think that because I didn't watch this game. I would probably have a different mood if that were the case. This kinda happened early on in the season too when we lost a number of close games. And then they followed it up with a bunch of wins.

cody hodgson has 8 goals and zack kassian has 8 goals

all of zack kassian's goals are at even strength whereas cody has 4 even strength goals and 4 powerplay goals

also cody probably gets 100% more ice time than kassian, at least when he's not stapled to the bench for being lazy defensively

therefore zack kassian is basically a better goal scorer than cody hodgson and the canucks have finally won the trade

lastly, i think it was a month ago when we were talking about santo and even strength goal production and he's scored like one goal since then lol

Honestly, how big is the biggest boner you've had for Zack Kassian, Cao? Have you managed a hands-off ejaculation thanks to him?

I've been watching him play more intently since you've been blowing him, and he does have a really nice shot, but he also doesn't use it nearly enough or properly, so that still doesn't elevate him much above Bernier.

Correction: Kassian made one really good pass one time that may have been a fluke.

Look, I like Kassian. The stuff he says to other players is retarded. He looks like Eugene from the WWE. When he's being interviewed by Dan Murphy, he looks paralysed with anxiety over each fluff question. And mostly I just like power forward players. But Kassian just is not there and Cao gives him way too much credit.

I think Kassian has a lot of potential. I think he's also very good at a lot of things. His offensive skills are some of the best on the team. I think offensive instincts are pretty good. My issue, he's so eager to learn and appease his coaches/teammates that he seems to let himself get pulled too far in one direction. Will make a great play, get compliments, then go too far in that direction. Then starts focussing on what he's missing but hasn't found the balance yet. That's some amateur sports psychology and pure speculation but that's what I gleam from his play.

He's an NHLer already. He might top-out as a physical 3rd liner with great hands. Basically a different version of Jannik Hansen. A tweener. I wouldn't be surprised to see him slowly gain improvement and have a 70 point season or two. Similar career trajectory as Kesler.

Kassian is like 22 and occasionally makes a nice play. Guys like that are basically expected to be stars until they're 30. See wellwood. Not a similar player at all but same state of fan worship.

Nah, Kassian is a good passer. He looked great with the Sedins last year and for the 15 minutes he's played with them this year. Every good pass doesn't lead to a goal, so apologies if I can't pull up any other examples.

He has 8 goals this year with 3rd line minutes and starts less than 40% of his shifts in the defensive zone. His play has been a bright spot during this losing streak. Bertuzzi didn't figure it out until he was 25. Clowe didn't figure it out until he was 25. It's not wrong to be excited about his play. Some players end up like Bertuzzi, others end up like Steve Bernier. Kassian has the skills to become a great second line player. I agree with Vector that he overthinks things, but hopefully he figures it out eventually.

edit: Also apparently Jordan Schroeder played during the eastern swing in Buffalo, Philly, and Pittsburgh, but I have no recollection of it whatsoever.

Yeah, Kassian has solid vision and underrated passing ability. That's not a one-time thing. He's a little dopey defensively from time to time but overall his game receives way more criticism than it deserves. He's been very solid the last few weeks.

Well come on guys, saying he's made one good pass one time is either plain ignorance, or, more likely, willfully being a dick about a player you don't like. Guy's got hands, he's a good passer and, at the moment, a solid depth player. Whether he can be more than that is obviously up for debate, but the argument that there are no encouraging signs is a lie.

Also all I did was compare him to Hodgson's goal totals. Because yumpy did.

I meant to specifically downplay that pass, which is so crazy good I think it's more reasonable to expect that he didn't intend it or he did intend it and it was a terribly play and it's just one of those times that making the wrong play wound up being good. In any case, he's not exactly making Gretzky-passes like that every game.

EDIT: Basically, pointing out the by-far-the-best-play-he's-made-all-season like that is exactly what the Hansen people do when they start talking about how he's a future 70-point player. And I say this as someone who only likes Hamhuis better than Hansen on the team.
