I honestly don't think anyone has explained to Benning how the cap works.

So. When do we find out where the cap is at?

I can't wait to see what retarded contract Benning gives to Linden Vey.

I honestly think Vey will be let go. Even Benning and WD has to see that his guy is simply not physically built for this league.

No chance. Benning won't part with anything he gave up assets for after just a year.

So to recap:

The Canucks lost while also embarrassing themselves yet again
The Flames seem to have emerged as the next Chicago-style team
The Oilers picked up the next superstar player and finally fixed their management problems (possibly)

Fuck Delorme, Benning, Willie, and Weisbrod need to fuck off off the ice and Linden be neutered in terms of power. On the ice, Bieksa needs to fuck off along with Sbisa, Dorsett, and Matthias.

This feels like 2009 all over again against Chicago, where we lost game 6 after having a 3 goal lead. Except this time, instead of going for medium-risk high-reward components with Gillis we have brain dead high-risk-high-reward Benning.

we never had a 3 goal lead in game 6. we had one in game 1 and we still won that game on a 4 on 1 after choking the 3 goal lead. game 6 we were down 3-1 and tied it up then exchanged goals for a bit n lost.

Willie did a good job of getting everyone to work hard throughout the season.

Benning might be good at drafting...but we have no idea how he'll fair as a GM rather than a scout.

Maybe they'll fold to media criticism since the Aquilinis are simple jackasses that are terrified of losing face.

I mean, the fans chanted "Fire Gillis" and the owners not only fired him, but brought in the most popular player in history as the President.

I'm pretty sure Gilman is the guy Benning gets to carry around all the binders and papers and shit whenever the Canucks brass needs to have a meeting. Then he slaps the binders out of Gilman's arms and screams "NERD!" while Gilman cries, inside.

That's pretty much how I feel, too. Gilman is the most intriguing person in this whole setup. Bet he bolts soon, maybe he's biding time for a GM interview. You can't learn much when you're the smartest man in the room.

Someone on boreds posted a few weeks ago that he had a source in the canucks who said something like gilman has been marginalized and he's looking for a way out.

That was me (so thanks!) – my source isn't part of the Canucks, but rather family connections.

And holy crap, I just remembered not only that this place exists, but that I am registered here. You're not the original King Ryan from HF, are you?

After hearing them talk about intangibles as the reason why guys in the 4th-7th round make the NHL, I am questioning what we've done to deserve this. Players like Burrows are the exception and it will be utterly ridiculous to try and draft someone like him. For reference, Burrows' first year in the QMJHL was his 20-year old season, and he scored at a 0.5 PPG pace.

I now understand why players like Kyle Pettit and Mackenze Stewart were drafted. These morons were literally trying to find the 1% of players with poor junior careers who made it to the NHL as bottom 6 players.

You know what, I bet it's not even 1%. I cannot think of another player with an exceptionally poor junior career at age 20 who has made it to the NHL. I can't even think of a comparable to Kyle Pettit.

This is a whole new level of stupidity in drafting. The 90's trend of drafting big players to get the next Eric Lindros at forward or Derian Hatcher made more sense than what they're doing.

Burrows was undrafted, but made it to the nhl based on his work ethic. Therefore, we should draft guys like Burrows. Makes sense.

And no, it's not even close to 1%. Burrows is the most extreme outliers we will ever see. When he retires someone will write a book about his absurd and unprecedented career path.

Well then you should watch the video, because Benning doesn't say a word. It's all John Weisbrod spewing that nonsense.

Actually, that's also depressing.

Weisbrod sounds like he should teach a management course at the University of Phoenix, not be the executive of an NHL team. Wow.

Aw man you got banned? Your posts were a breath of refreshing (angry) air while they lasted :)

Also, Pauser would curb stomp the Sedins and build a statue of Shinkaruk, but he'd also waive Sbisa which would make him a better GM than Bimbo Jimbo.

I registered there in 2003 as King Ryan. Later I posted as God, MarcCrawfordsEnglish, and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember. My banned account is Rotting Corpse. I was banned in 2010 and never given a reason why. Basically stayed away for a few years until 2013 when I moved to Vancouver and was able to register again as Elfred Dramatad (later Lucas Pizza.) Managed to fly under the radar until last month when they somehow figured it out.

I was able to get a hold of an administrator after much effort and we had a very weird email exchange. They still absolutely refuse to tell me why I was banned in 2010 and why it was so bad that my recent account had to be banned because of my sins from 5 years earlier, whatever they were. I don't remember posting porn or anything like this, so it's pretty weird. Whaaaatever.

Today that board is so absurdly moderated that it's almost impossible to even have a discussion because the mods delete a third of the posts.

You can't make fun of Jim Benning and you also can't say anything about Luca Sbisa because it's mean.
