So, the Canucks know they can't sign Abols, right? I mean, it's only been a year since Tkachev's contract with the Oilers was rejected.

Or do they just want him at training camp so they don't have to bother with scouting him during the season?

Well they have CBA-master Weisbrod on staff, so they must know.

No, the luxury of having two number one goalies is that you can trade the better one for some broken shoe string and a gift card to blockbuster video.

I think the worst part of the prospects tournament is seeing just how bad every 2015 picked defenseman were. How Carl Neill and Tate Olson got picked is an absolute mystery to me. Brisebois was a non-factor. Benning traded the only good defenseman he's ever picked, and for nothing.

The only 2015 player who looked worth a damn was Zhukenov.

Also, Shinkaruk's performance was equivalent to Jensen's performance last year: he should've destroyed that tournament. Can't believe that's all we got after a year at the pro level. Hope he blows up in training camp.

Mackenze Stewart was surprisingly better than Kyle Pettit. Both of them still suck.

I'd rather re-live the 2011 finals loss than watch Linden/Benning/Weisbrod ruin this team even more.

17. In July, Canucks GM Jim Benning said he could have traded Ryan Miller. Best intel I could find indicated the likeliest possibility was San Jose. The Sharks went out and got Martin Jones, as Benning is committed to Miller.

18. A smart evaluator once said, “Never pay attention to the first week of exhibition games. It’s the second week that determines who’s ready, because that’s when the veterans start to care a little.” Jake Virtanen will be an interesting test. No question he stood out in Penticton, but will he continue to impress as he faces stronger, more mature men? It’s always tougher for young players who depend on physicality. One exec compared him to Raffi Torres. “He hits right through you, and he hits you hard.”

I'm just excited that our answer to Connor McDavid is not acquiring better hockey players but to violently destroy him with a Finnish missile.

Like, Connor McDavid kind of looks like Jonathan Toews' younger brother, and all I can see in my head is Virtanen murdering him like Mitchell on Toews.

There should be no question that a Canuck will do something stupid and seriously injure McDavid so we can restore our rightful role as most hated team in the NHL.

So me noting my fear that Benning would redirect any LTIR funds gained because of a Lucic-Miller collision (if Lucic were a teammate) toward Tim Thomas got axed by the moderators. C'mon...

Do they still ban people for being posters on this site or has this place decayed to the point that they don't care any more?

Only 2 people were ever banned, I think.

I actively am avoiding watching. That's not new for me and pre-season. Every move the team has made this offseason had filled me with disgust and I'd rather spend time with my wife.

They're pretty hyper-vigilant about keeping me banned, when I've not done anything.

Somehow, kmad is unbanned there.

That's what happened. I think it was also because some people here were harassing him over what was going over there and they didn't want him discussing "site information" over here.

I think specifically I asked why I was banned and he (like everyone else) wouldn't tell me. That was around when he stopped posting here I guess. I didn't know that that would get him into trouble though; wish he had continued to post here.

Shinkaruk is doing better

Linden Vey was pretty bad throughout the game but I might give him a slight pass on the OT goal because the other two guys also got confused. You kinda get the impression with that garbage effort that he already knows his dad will pencil him into the roster.
