I haven't noticed him in awhile. I think he disappeared around the time the Canucks went from decent, but clearly overachieving to god awful and a laughing stock.

Murph's friend Fatty Statty is my favourite part of Canucks games these days. He is terrified.

I got a seat for 10 dollars. Row 2, upper bowl.

I only regret it because nobody chanting SELL THE TEAM with me, so I felt like an idiot. I wish there were more angry idiots like me at the game.

The Canucks actually played pretty well. Every Islander goal was pretty fluky, but so were the Canucks' goals. Shot quality is a bitch.

Markstrom named to team Sweden and Lack not, and now people are debating Markstrom vs Lack as if it wasn't always Lack vs Miller.

Which will be great when we re-sign Miller to an extension and let Markstrom go as well.

Sounds like the town hall meeting was a total train wreck. It's amazing to think that if everything goes perfectly, they might actually have a decent young nucleus, which makes it that much more infuriating how they've failed to get more lottery tickets.

i love that jim benning said there was a website that people posted their players on

i bet nobody's seen someone list 7 players at once, which is why it got leaked. or GMs just don't use it for that exact reason and benning was none the wiser

There is something incredibly funny about that comment and I'm not even quite sure what it is.

I mean, it makes perfect sense that the NHL would have an intranet where GM's can communicate, and even list players on the block and so forth. It really isn't surprising that that would exist; it's just efficient. So I don't know why it's funny, but it just is. And I can see Benning completely fucking it up and posting to the wrong forum, maybe posting to one that's available to the media instead of the private one he's supposed to post in, something like this.

And it's even funnier that he says they aren't going to use it anymore, because for some reason they're the one team out of 30 that couldn't keep their list from Bob McKenzie.

Milbury managed to do some good trades. He had a lot longer of a tenure than Benning so it's difficult to compare.

03/13/96: C Darby Hendrickson, D Kenny Jonsson, C Sean Haggerty and TOR 1st round choice in 1997 Entry Draft(4th overall: G Roberto Luongo) from TOR to NYI for LW Wendel Clark, D Mathieu Schneider and D D.J. Smith.

This is a pretty epically brilliant trade that Milbury never gets any credit for.

Benning doesn't have anything like this. He has nothing that's even close. I mean imagine if he'd traded Kesler, Bieksa and Corrado for the 4th overall pick and a 21 year old D who had just put up 30 points in his rookie season.

I would take Milbury over Benning. It has the side benefit of getting Milbury off TV.

Edler - Tanev
Hutton - Sbisa
Pedan - Larsen
Tryamkin, Biega

3 legitimate NHLers out 8 guys they have committed to the roster. I guess Biega could be waived and Hamhuis could be re-signed. But still.

Tanev - Hutton going to be an awesome top pairing once Benning trades Edler for some busted prospects and a cap dump.

Pedan won't make it, and I doubt Larsen will either. The problems he had here were that he couldn't take a hit, and playing in Europe was probably to his advantage as he had more open ice. We'll have to see how Tryamkin plays in the coming days, but I'm pretty sure they'll re-sign Hamhuis for the simple fact that Jim Benning truly believes that his team is a playoff team if it weren't for the fact that they were 15th in the league in man games lost to injury.

I think there's basically no chance we re-sign Hamhuis and I'm expecting one of the other Gillis guys to be moved. Maybe Edler, yeah.

Imagine what this would look like if Hutton didn't come out of absolutely nowhere this year.

I mean, he waived Corrado after a horrible training camp. Pedan has the skating ability to play as a spare forward I believe. Guess we will see Larsen on the right side...man, we really need to waive Sbisa.

Just looking at man games lost doesn't tell the whole story, though. How many other teams lost their franchise 3rd line C for an extended period of time?

Kenins is set to become a Group 6 UFA this summer since he isn't going to hit the 80 game mark. Shame that some other team will pick him up for free. Though I guess the writing was on the wall (literally!) when he was included on the Canucks list of trade bait.
