there's a top 3 of matthews and two finns and then it's a drop after that

so the canucks will pick 4th

Make it seven sure is going well this season. Not a single Canadian team in the playoff picture and the bottom four in the league are Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto.

Jakob Chychrun

I think his stock was higher last year than it is this year. Believe he's had some injuries. Would still instantly be our best prospect obviously.

#Canucks set new franchise record for time without a goal. Break the record of 223 minutes & 10 seconds set in 1984.

Jokes aside, this is a real low point in franchise history. In the Tortz year we were not this bad. It has been a while since we were this bad.

The Tortz year was the exact same as Crawford's final year. Talented team that had problems. This is a completely inept team put together by morons.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

http://blogs.theprovince.com/2016/03/22 ... l-mistake/

MOST EMBARRASSING SIGNING

Not a lot has gone right for the Canucks recently. You can add Nikita Tryamkin’s contract to that list.

The Canucks tried to sign him earlier than they did, but to a three-year-deal. It was a contract that was rejected by the NHL because it was not in accordance with CBA rules.

The NHL subsequently sent out an email blast to the league that wasn’t exactly flattering for Canucks management.

The email was sent to Benning, but all the league’s GMs and AGMs were CC’d.

In it, the NHL pointed out that Tryamkin’s date of birth is August, 30 1994, and by CBA rules it means he’s 22 years old. Players who are 22- or 23-years-old are to be signed to two-year entry level deals, not three.

Simply, age, as assigned by the CBA, is the player’s age on September 15 of the calendar year in which he signs a contract.

I understand this isn’t the end of days, because it didn’t cost the Canucks.

Doesn’t mean it’s not a little alarming, and a bad look for a team that’s had a couple of contractual hiccups after moving on from one AGM, and basically using two people to replace him.

They may need three.

Step 1. Remove the law school graduates.
Step 2. Replace them with people who barely have a high school education.
Step 3. ???
Step 4. disaster

I'm honestly amazed it could be that bad. I thought Linden would come in to kiss babies and be the face of the franchise, but be pretty distant from hockey ops, and I had no idea Benning could be as stupid as he actually looks and sounds. Bumbling Benning is somehow still doing interviews, Linden comes off like a child when he gets cornered, and they have a guy whose previous job was washing jerseys managing the salary cap.

People talk about GIllis always acting like the smartest man in the room, yet he surrounded himself with the best minds he could find. Literally every role Linden has hired is one of the bottom 3 in the league, talent wise.

Yep.

These guys ALSO talk like they are the smartest men in the room, but they are unbelievably stupid.

At the Town Hall or whatever it was someone asked about lessons learned from mistakes made at the deadline and Trevor interrupted with "what mistakes?"

What's most frustrating is they have turned one of the top teams in the league into a diaper fire AND they don't seem to think they've done anything wrong.

Anyone else picturing how Benning will fuck up this draft somehow?

If we draft 2nd or 3rd, he'll most likely not pronounce the name right.

And with Melanson expected to walk after this season you gotta wonder how much worse things are gonna get

does the prospect of drafting first overall even excite anyone at this point? we're gonna be shit until they clean house

There are some pieces on this team that can contribute to a very good playoff team. Too bad management completely failed at acquiring more talent.

Tyramkin, Etem, Hutton, Gaunce, Virtanen, McCann, Baertschi, Biega, and Horvat are good pieces. Etem has really impressed me and with the right coaching and line mates could be an effective bottom-6 winger.

yeah, etem doesn't do much with the puck but the opposition is often chasing him because of his speed. he's like a better derek dorsett.

really like what i've seen from tryamkin. he could be our hal gill.

I was actually wondering the other day whether I'll keep it up as long as he's around... I fear that will be long enough to actually run out of ideas, unlikely as that sounds. I mean, without branching into totally unrelated stuff like "Benning visits his parents" or "Benning gets a summer job with Zack, Slater and Screech" or whatever.

If we could dump Sbisa and keep Hamhuis I actually don't mind that defense:

Tanev/Edler
Hutton/Hamhuis
Tryamkin/Biega

Absolutely no depth whatsoever but when healthy that's not too bad.

I have no delusions however that we will do either of those things.

I also can't wait for the Canucks to be terrible in a couple years and pick lower than they have to because of the expansion team(s) sliding in ahead of them.

I doubt they fire Willie this offseason. He's a get out of jail free card, and this year they are going to point out that foundation piece Sutter was injured which caused the slide. They'll fire Willie next year to buy more time.

I feel like management should be the ownerships get out of jail free card. Save face by keeping Linden around as President in name only. Let him go run fitness centers and shill for lenscrafters or whatever the fuck.

This season has been abject, unmitigated failure for a team that was expected to suck.

I still can't believe the way we lost that series. I'd have had no problem losing to the better team or losing because of insurmountable injuries (which is kinda what happened), or any other fucking realistic way a stacked team could lose to an underdog. But the amount of fucking bullshit that was allowed to go down? I don't know how someone is supposed to even reconcile with that.

And yet no one in the hockey world ever even addressed it.

Hey everyone, remember the 1991 draft where the Canucks would have had the 6th pick — Peter Forsberg — if not for the expansion to San Jose, pushing them down to 7th, and Alek Stojanov?

That one never really gets brought up.

Hey everyone, remember the 1991 draft where the Canucks would have had the 6th pick — Peter Forsberg — if not for the expansion to San Jose, pushing them down to 7th, and Alek Stojanov?

That one never really gets brought up.

Ehh, the Canucks took Nedved instead of Jagr in '90 (kudos to them for getting the right country at least..), they probably still would've chosen Stojanov. At least that brought them Naslund.
