God damn it. A 3-1 loss would have meant Chicago beating the spread and being under the 5 goals. We just had to score a second one. Fuckers.

From Chris Higgins's brother on HF.

Some real interesting stuff going on behind the scenes right now in terms of team chemistry and team itself with the higher ups.

Around a month ago I personally heard from a good source that some of the core veterans (and I'm not talking about Dorsett and Miller) aren't happy with the youngsters on the team. They think the kids can get away with stuff that the veteran's could never get away with in their day and the kids have no respect for the game.

I didn't bother posting before since I didn't think it a big deal, but with Daniel's recent comments and now this from Higgins, I guess it was bigger than I realized.

You mean Willie and Benning are letting their players run wild? Would never happen with this management group.

A lot of it must be about Virtanen. He hung out with Biebs and Moretz which is not real good. Who does he think he is, Pavel Bure?

It seemed like off ice/ preparation stuff, but I wasn't given specifics and I didn't prod. It didn't sound like defensive coverage was what they took issue with though.

So from 1991 until Internet forums were commonplace, I always felt that too – that Pat Quinn would absolutely have drafted Stojanov even in sixth position, with Forsberg available. However, once Canucks' discussion fora (in this case the mailing list that was around in the mid-to-late '90s, I believe) became a thing, it was pointed out to me that, apparently, Quinn had a Canucks jersey with Forsberg's name ready to go and wanted him. Now who knows whether Quinn was being entirely truthful or not, but it's apparently something he's said.

So if you're looking for sour grapes to feel better about how things turned out, sadly these were sweet as hell...

Doubt it. Reporters don't want to get blacklisted by an NHL team.

I don't understand how they got help on Corrado situation and still waived him. Like, was it too confusing and they gave up?

Henrik legitimately laughed when asked if he thought Hansen could score on the power play.

“If you can score five-on-five goals, you can score on the power play. That’s nothing.”

The coach laughed too when asked the question, but, I guess, for the exact opposite reason.

“I’ve always said Jannik’s goals all come off rushes. They don’t come as much as a set up in the zone.

“That’s why he hasn’t been used.”

They are usually my favorite part to make, too. :)

If I am more pressed for time, I may do a "BOE Express" from time to time which will basically just be a single panel or two.

I was half-tempted to make this one a special edition called "semi-Colin" or something and make it entirely about Campbell, but what has been revealed in this case basically already is the comedy, and I don't know if there are many more angles to be had about it beyond "what a dumbass".

The Canucks have 29 wins, which is second only behind Toronto's 28. That's good enough for 25th in the league.

Thanks again, loser point.

I have griped extensively on draft rankings, but here's another one: lottery percentages shouldn't be set by rankings from 1-14, the proportions should reflect the actual points differential (obviously with the number of balls it earns them rounded to the nearest whole number). So if the teams aren't actually separated by much in the standings, their percentages should be correspondingly similar. i.e. The total number of balls in the hopper for each team should reflect winning percentages, not "slot". It should be possible that four teams at the bottom of the standings have basically an identical shot if they're only separated by a point or two. It seems ridiculous that a team wins a single game and suddenly jumps three spots in the standings with a big hit to their chances.

(All this apart from the fact that reverse-order drafts are bad to begin with).

I think we should abolish the draft and just let teams sign players. The draft an archaic slave system that has long passed its appropriateness.

No team would tank if they were trying to convince Matthews to sign with them.

Nobody would sign in Edmonton and they would contract the franchise.
