Deryk Engelland ($0.567m)
GOALTENDERS

You've got a guy who was a rookie this year, who's never played a playoff game, and serves with the Edmonton Oilers in your top two. I believe you may have a combined 12 playoff games experience with that group.

Edit: and Crawford stil sucks.

Muzzin didn't play a game in that cup run iirc. And MEH to Greene. At least you do have 2 guys who made the playoffs this year though.

Disagree.

Yakupov-Crosby-Hossa
Johansson-Stamkos- St. Louis

vs

Perry-Getzlaf-Ovechkin
Grigorenko-Spezza-Ryan

Stamkos and St Louis is better than Perry and Getzlaf by quite a bit. And as much as I hate to say it, Crosby is far better than Ovechkin. Yakupov lead rookies in scoring while Grigorenko has yet to play a game. Hossa outproduces Ryan and is elite defensively to boot. Only weakness in my top 6 is Johansson and he's very good as a complimentary player on a line with a star winger and a star centre as last season showed.

I think we can agree you have the best (by a slight margin) defense though.

Brodin and Faulk are "young defenseman doing well with increased responsibility". Brodin is coming into a good circumstance, while Faulk has basically been thrown the wolves and hasn't drowned.

Schultz has been a total joke defending though.

Matt Greene missed basically the entire season last year didn't he?

And not a single Norris was given that day.

Keith is one of the few defencemen in the game with a Norris, Green is second only to Karlsson for dynamism from the blueline, Byfuglien is actually underrated: he can hit and play in all situations and have good Corsi despite playing for Winnipeg, he also has a cannon for a shot. Cowen is as good as Franson, but you've got me beat with Emelin and Gryba, though both are hard-hitting and tough to play against. They're also in front of the reigning Vezina winner.

Keith - Byfuglien
Green - Emelin
Cowen - Gryba

Personal hardware on my team:

2 Conn Smythe (Toews, Kane)
Selke (Toews)
2 Calder (Kane, Huberdeau)
Norris (Keith)
Vezina (Bobrovsky)

I have better puck moving defensemen than you, my defense is more physical than yours, I have better skaters than, and I have better shutdown defensemen than you.

Yeah Bobrovsky is better, but at the same time you have to consider that he may have been product of system that only knew that trap. Yeah, Steve Mason isn't great, but like I told Lifer, all he has to do for me is not blow it, and he's more than capable of handling that.

Yeah my top line isn't great, but my forwards as whole are the best, especially in terms of match ups, and actually being built to grind out and win a tough 7 game series.

LOL. I have a Norris winner, a Norris runner-up and Byfuglien also got Norris consideration. The only guy on your squad that got a sniff of the Norris is Beauchemin. Who on your team skates better than Keith or Green? Who is tougher than Byfuglien, Cowen or Emelin?

And if Bobrovsky is only a product of the trap, what does that say about your goalie? Even the trap couldn't save him.

This is why we should have a round robin, if not to eliminate players, at least to determine seeding.

I see Cowen and Gryba struggling to gain the offensive zone with any consistency, an underrated yet serviceable pairing in Emelin and Green, and Keith... whom you've burdened by pairing him with Byfuglien as opposed to a stay-at-home compliment that he's always had in Seabrook.

Prison Mike has a pretty good defense, as does MAW. I have no qualms in saying my group is better than at least yours.

I don't see why Keith has to be paired with a stay at home type, and Byfuglien is good is his own end too. He's -1 on a team that's -37, has the only positive Corsi rating among the Jets' top 4 and is their most trusted defenceman at even-strength.

Green and Emelin are a remake of Montreal's Markov-Emeling pairing which works great for them. Green was close to a point-per-game pace again this year, is also Washington's most trusted defenceman 5 on 5, and is the third defenceman on my team who can play 25 minutes in a game.

That would leave Cowen and Gryba to play 15 minutes each. Not enough for them to be a problem.

But juvenile chest thumping aside, I do like your defence. I wanted Pietrangelo and Staal. I don't see Prison Mike's being better than yours in spite of Weber.

My #'s say he's playing secondary minutes, Carlson and Alzner play tougher minutes than Mike Green

Staal.

I don't want it to seem like I'm picking on you. I'm not. I've just never been a fan of the rover.

Whether we're talking Green (early WAS), Byfuglien, Subban, Letang, Karlsson... whatever, as a defenseman you're not getting 200, 300 shots in a season without compromising yourself defensively. Obviously, players like Lidstrom, Bourque, Pronger, Chelios, etc. are the exception. Then again, they never looked as bad as some of these modern rovers have look of late in the post-season, when it counts the most.

Green and Emelin are a remake of Montreal's Markov-Emeling pairing which works great for them. Green was close to a point-per-game pace again this year, is also Washington's most trusted defenceman 5 on 5, and is the third defenceman on my team who can play 25 minutes in a game.
And I think they could do really well together. That's why I said they were an underrated pairing. They're also serviceable in that there are some better pairings out there... hell, the same could be said of Enstrom and Bogosian.

But juvenile chest thumping aside, I do like your defence. I wanted Pietrangelo and Staal. I don't see Prison Mike's being better than yours in spite of Weber.
With the draft over, that's all we have.

Cao, fix your picks d00d.

Playoffs start tomorrow

First round matchups:

Tampa vs Chicago
New Jersey vs Detroit
Philadelphia vs San Jose
