Can we scalp the team we beat, and poach their players, provided the teams stay cap-compliant?

I look at it as more motivation. He always plays very well when he is the go to guy and Crosby is concussed. I was going to give it to Elias but he said he doesn't want to be a Captain after what happened last time he was.

BCE Maple Leafs

Hall - Kadri - Kessel
Pacioretty - Plekanec - Ryder
Galchenyuk - Eller - Bennett
Paajarvi - Moore - Kassian
Scott

Markov - Subban
Gardiner - Carlson
Diaz - Hamilton
Despres

Rask
Allen

Why I like my team:

Depth: While I don't have top end talent like a Crosby and a St. Louis or an Ovechkin and Getzlaf, I do have three scoring lines consisting of several players in the Top 20 of their position. I also have players like Bennett, Paajarvi and Kassian who could play higher if an injury were to occur. My team is honestly made in case of injuries. A lot of other teams go down immediately if their top stars are injured. My team is all about depth.

Mobility on the Blueline: Subban, Carlson, Gardiner and Diaz can all skate. Hamilton is big but mobile for his size. Same goes with Despres. Markov is slowing down but can still move the puck. I have several options on my power play. I'm not relying on a single cannon at all.

Youth: My team is young, dumb and full of cum...petition. Guys like Paajarvi are better suited for a top six role but he can still play his way up the lineup. Speaking of which...

Bottom Six: I'm pretty sure my bottom six is the best in the game. Galchenyuk, Eller and Bennett could be a top six line for a lesser team. Paajarvi, Moore and Kassian with John Moore in case of fighting can muck it up as two of those players are expected to be future top six forwards.

And finally...

Broads Factor: My team is a mish mash of the two hockey teams partially owned by BCE as well as making up like over half of the Broads voting base: Habs and Leafs. I mean, the vote is for the entire forum and I'm totally made to pop their boners. I should have taken Reimer but every Leaf fan dreams of Rask between the pipes. I'm tailor made for their night time fantasies.

I've got a 1st line that should dig and create scoring

I've got a 2nd line where everyone has been to or won a Cup, with great experience flanking a younger C

My 3rd line is young but super talented kids, centered by one of the best defensive forwards in the game

My 4th line will grind the fuck out of you

My D and goaltending show some serious, reliable skill

My special teams have some phenomenal PKers and PP options

And I have a Cup winner at every position

Maw's Scientologists the rundown:

Coach: Sutter, you know the one I'm talking about.

"A" Jamie Benn - "A" Anze Kopitar - Brad Marchand
Joffery Lupul - David Krejci - Brendan Gallagher
Colin Greening - Adam Henrique - Jakob Silfverberg
Matt Martin - Jim O'brien - Mark Stone
Nathan Gerbe

Oliver Ekman-Larsson - "C" Drew Doughty
Marc Methot - Vyacheslav "Slava" Voynov
Michal Rozsival - Cody Franson
Mark Borowiecki

J. Quick
Philpp Grubauer

PP1:
Lupul-Kopitar-Benn
OEL-Doughty

PP2: Henrique-Krejci-Marchand
Franson-Voynov

PK1: Kopitar Benn
OEL-Doughty

PK2: Henrique-Marchand
Methot-Voynov

Highlights:
Down the middle: Kopitar is a true number 1 C even in a condensed league. Krejci stays as a very good number 2. Henrique is the best C on the Devils, and becomes a third liner here. The fourth line won't see much ice time, but Jim O'Brien won't treat you wrong.

Experience: Many, many, cup winners and people who play good in the playoffs.
Quick is a big game goalie. Kopitar tied for lead in playoff points last year; Krecji led league in playoff points by a huge margin this year; Henrique scores big goals at important times; Doughty is a winner, Voynov led playoffs in goals by defencemen & also can hit and play D.

Tough team: Marchand, Gallagher, Matt Martin, Marc Methot, Voynov, Roszival, Henrique, Kopitar and more won't get outworked. Can also agitate enough to throw people off their game.

Arousing D: OEL is a number 1 defenceman on most teams; Doughty is number one on his; Voynov has turned into an elite Dman, Methot was the number one defenceman on a playoff team this year, and Rozsival and Franson bring a specific skill set (defence and puck movement respectively.)

Balanced scoring: A top 6 that can compete with any team's, and a powerplay that can through Lupul-Kopitar-Benn and other combinations plus great talent on the back end.

Jon Quick: proven winner, long standing track record of unquestioned success.

My team currently has two captains in Shane Doan and Ryan Callahan, it might become three soon:
http://blogs.edmontonjournal.com/2013/08/27/report-sam-gagner-to-be-the-next-captain-of-the-edmonton-oilers/
Justifying my love for Sam Gagner. Fuck it, I'm not trying to trade him anymore. It would make too much sense too for the Oilers.

Playoff threads posted

To GMs:
Post your line-ups, special teams, captains, style of play, tactics and anything else you can imagine about your team here. Explain why you think your team would prevail in a 7 game playoff series and what strategies your team would use to do so.

It is up to you to ensure that your opponent is cap compliant. If find out they aren't, you may win by DQ.

As a GM you must vote in every contest once the poll is up. This is to ensure we have the bare minimum number of votes in case other broads don't step up. If you don't vote in all other match-ups, your own team will not progress.

No vote rigging is allowed. You are allowed to encourage other posters to vote in this thread but you cannot ask them to vote for you.

To non-GMs:
Please look at the line-ups and the arguments of each GM for their respective teams. Then vote for the team you think will win a 7 game playoff series. Try to remain impartial. It's not a requirement but please explain in a post why you vote for the team you voted for.

Poll will be up later, once both GMs have posted their line-ups and opening arguments.

and go.

Well I didn't record your picks for a reason. You can do them over. You have to keep Ribeiro though.

Or if you're too lazy we can just give Pedro a walk.

I've asked RP to add the polls. Or if someone else has that capability they can do it too.

We'll leave them up for two days or until at least 20 votes/a clear winner emerges.

RP has been pushing this idea: You may acquire players from the teams you have defeated and use them on your team, provided you are still cap compliant.

Need a yay or nay from everyone.

We can put a hold on it. Maybe discuss it in a bit more detail for the next time around, if the general idea is well-received.
