I like how Stephen Taylor's twitter bio is "Former Senior Political Advisor to the former Leader of the Opposition in Canada's Parliament" instead of "Andrew Scheer's Digital Director". I guess he doesn't like to brag.

State run television is totally Canadian. It not just that it feels that way. It is not the CBC's fault that the private networks are almost just as shitty as them and copy their poor production value.

I always suspected that Global Communism would come from the financial elites at Davos and be imposed on the unwitting masses (who yearn for more capitalism).

when i was a kid (i think grade 7 or 8), i thought about writing a novel about a company that grew so large by buying up its competitors that it became the only company left (true monopoly) and that its employees through their unions negotiated the ownership of the company to the extent that capitalism and communism were one in the same. i never got past the concept stage, but it never left me.

i was a weird kid.

you wouldn't need a census if you already knew who everyone was and where they lived and how much money they made. payroll department would take care of that information for you if you needed it.

i also used to think about making cars using magnets for the gas pedal so that the effect of when a magnet pushes away from itself would propel the car and by letting go of the gas would essentially be the brakes.

i was a weird, but ahead-of-his-time cockfag. i'd be the elon musk and margaret atwood of the current day prognosticators if i had only put my energies to good use. now i'm just a boring accountant who sits in his office writing on a hockey broad about what could have been.

not that it matters, i also had a lost opportunity when the song "ebony and ivory" came out. i made up my own political satire song called "lebanese and israelis" about the strife in the middle east. but then weird al yankovic became popular and i didn't want people to think that i copied his style of musical satire.

celebrated entrepreneur, novelist and musician i should have been (also cartoonist, but alas that was also not to be). and here i am a boring old accountant living in suburban mediocrity.

All that CERB and CEWS money could have bought some pretty nice vaccine manufacturing capability. This just might be the death blow to Justin

I don't think much would come out of that. Vaccine manufacture was privatised under Mulroney and there was no credible way to ramp up manufacturing capability for these new vaccines in the time since the virus struck. Can't even blame Harper for this one.

The manufacturing process for the Pfizer/Moderna vaccines is also novel. They could not have licensed manufacturing rights and build manufacturing capability for all major vaccine candidates. The Oxford vaccine is more traditional.

Read somewhere that they had announced funding this summer to build a manufacturing facility in Montreal which would be ready in like a year, but seems they also announced some manufacturing capability for November. That’s probably my open question at this point. Did they deliver on that Nov capability? Could they license manufacturing rights for the Oxford vaccine and start making doses for priority target groups quickly?

I think the November capability didn't materialize because of some certification or something? Some legit technical reason I couldn't be bothered to remember.
