The name matters fuckface. One includes Israel and the greater Levant, the others dont. When POTUS uses ISIL, it matters to many.

It's an actual debate in the media. Especially the use of Daesh. None of it they care about personally. Its stupid when Kerry uses it.

They do prefer to be called IS over the rest however in the media. They keep a close eye on MSM.

It depends greatly on what the A-10s are shooting at, and whether or not they hit. I have no special insight into the efficacy of CAS missions in Aleppo, though I can tell you from experience that without close coordination with FOs on the ground (meaning there are SOCOM units in Aleppo, which I think is unlikely), eggs will get broken.

Generally speaking, I have no problem with the idea that some group of Arab-speakers might be moved to shout "Allahu Akbar!" at the sight of violence done by the American military. They've been doing that since the 1940's, and anyway, Arabs shout that particular phrase for a lot of uninteresting reasons. Translated into English, it would have little more practical meaning than "Yay!"

My main objection to classic American urban warfare doctrine is that the military typically treats property damage as either immaterial to their calculations, or even as a positive side-effect of bombing/artillery campaigns. This also goes back to the second world war. While the American military does place a high priority on avoiding civilian casualties and has gotten good at doing so (though in high-volume campaigns, they will always occur), the cavalier attitude taken towards the places civilians actually live inflicts unnecessary suffering on the inhabitants of the cities affected. It's not a good look to wring our hands at shocking pictures of "urbicide" carried out by Assad's forces, and then do the same thing, ourselves. I don't know to what extent we're simply blowing the shit out of the structures which constitute Aleppo, but if we are, yeah...I've got some issues with that.

The optics alone are somewhat dangerous. While we flew above Amerli, AAH, Kataib Hezbollah, and IRGC/Quds were beheading people on the ground.

Manbej pocket closing up. Fallujah lost. Mosul being eyed. Caliphate is in serious trouble. Loss of Sirte hurts too. BUT WE NEED TROOPS ON THE GROUND. 20,000 at least.

With the Iranian Shi'a Caliphate thriving, I find it difficult to believe with any sincerity that the Gulf States, Turkey, and elements of the west cease to desist their fund a Sunni Loony (an interesting twist Max Abrams approves of) campaign to push back said Iranian expansionism which is now openly spearheaded by Qassem Soleimani. Bahrain looks to be next in sight of Khameini and company.

A dangerous move that truly horrifies Arab tyrants. A Persian-Arab war is on the horizon. As is a Kurdish-Shia conflict which is beginning to sprout in northwest Iran as Rojava is Rising. Sykes-Picot's earthly corpses are rattling in the grave. We have to finish of IS, begin the process of pushing back Iran, or at least, halting them. If they move into Saudi heartland even more (I dont think Yemen has a large Iranian presence) all bets are off.

--Another video shows a man falling to the floor in the terminal, apparently after being shot by a law enforcement officer. The man drops his assault rifle, which skitters across the floor. The officer appears to shoot a second time and runs. A flash covers the video, apparently caused by the fallen man detonating a bomb.

-- A Turkish official told CNN that police fired shots at suspects near the international terminal in an effort to neutralize them.
