So I was talking with this girl in my program and she told me that there's an economic reason for why the Habs haven't won since 1993. She said it's because it's in the league's best interest for no dynasties and they rig it so that the Habs don't win. I asked her how she knew this and she told me that she took a sports economics class and her prof told her all about it...at Concordia.

Travis Hamonic and his fiancée, being very religious and brought up with proper Western Canadian values, do not want to raise kids in the U.S. which is why the trade was requested to the Western Canadian teams. Apparently there's enough conviction behind it that not playing beyond this season is on the table.
