"Bravo".

Berts dead.

It was like one of the "next on madmen", segments.

Roger is the fucking man. And Don should be talking jumpers off the ledge after that job he did on Ted.

If they hook Don and Peggy up, I'm going to cut off dongs nipple.

Are we really not talking about that song and dance sequence? Great finale, but that might have been the strangest, silliest, most discordant move this series has made.

don is going crazy

the final scene is like the title sequence: he jumps out of the building because he can't stop seeing bert cooper. anna draper. lane pryce. all singing and dancing.

ginsberg has always been a sort of a young draper with his ideas. him going crazy is foreshadowing for don's mental demise.

and also let's not forget kenny cosgrove's dancing last season

Yeah, but Don and the rest of them were on drugs and that was clearly a chemical hallucination. It was also great.

This was...I dunno. You could say maybe emotional hallucination/manifestation, but in what universe is Don Draper's mind filled with happy-go-lucky showtunes?

Absolutely, but what's the alternative here? That Weiner decided to have Dead Bert Cooper (HEY! IT DID HAPPEN! KINDA!) float into Don's consciousness as a barely disguised Voice of the Creator? Which, frankly, hard to argue that isn't the case, period, whatever the explanation.

Anyways, I'm just going to do my best to pretend those three minutes didn't happen.

Next season Dead Bert Cooper saves Don from a river and shows him how worse off Sterling Cooper and Co. would have been if he'd never been born.

The tone and pacing of this episode seemed completely off to me. And the build-up to the sale was unsatisfying, predictable. Why was that secretary acting like a crazy person around Don?

The secretary thing makes sense. She's had the obvious hots for Don for a while and has never been much for intelligence or picking up signals.

One thing I forgot after DB Cooper: Don and Megan's break-up. Just seemed very incongruous with what we'd seen the week previous.

The threesome I get and makes total sense as working towards a break-up. But the finale saw them at the most peaceful they've been since two seasons back, at least if I'm remembering correctly.

I saw it as her having the guts to point out that while there was a bond, there wasn't a life that either could make work. He knew it, but if she made the point, he didn't have to have a conversation. Even the song and dance routine, I took it as a guy who Don felt wasn't just an odd presence, actually meant something to him, that he hadn't categorized to himself. Whatever the old man meant to him, I thought the soft shoe just played it out.

Sometimes someone has a place in your life that you don't realize or articulate until they're gone, and when it hits you, it catches you by surprise. Then again, a writer can do a scene and realize afterwards what he was getting at. Then again, I'm currently losing blood after poking myself with some dead cedar branches I was clearing out.

On reflection, probably the closest thing to a father he's ever had. I still have a special hate for that musical number, though.

I thought the first half was mega-weak. That scene where the waitress confessed her past took a lot of air out of it. Pima subplot was alright. Enjoyed the Megan stuff, though.
