I think the problem with mad men (and SC&P) is that they've gotten too big. too many storylines, kinda diluted the total product. weiner needs to kick don out and start over.

Pretty sure the series finale will be a deranged Betty Draper opening fire at the agency and killing all the other characters.

I can't help but feel like they're trying to make this a little more sensationalist to try to drum up ratings. Not unusual for a drama in it's 7th season, but I was hoping Mad Men would be above it.

Don't know I'd agree. Ginsburg's nipple's the only sensationalism this season's had that I can recall, and this is a show that once ran over a man's foot with a lawnmower inside an office.

That said, not sure how I feel about it. In the context of how Ginsburg's been established (re: the schizo Mars stuff from his first appearances), I think it worked, with one caveat (which I'll get to in a moment), but I always kind of hated that element of his backstory and tried to forget it. Just too over the top. Re: the caveat, I know nothing about nothing about schizophrenia, but it seems weird that he'd be able to go years functioning perfectly and then dissolve entirely in the span of forty-eight or so hours because of stress.

Pretty sure he was hallucinating. And I'd say a threesome in late sixties Hollywood isn't that far out there.

I definitely didn't read it that way. Lou and Glasses are the two most threatening figures at the agency for Ginsburg, hence why he'd hallucinate them with the computer. The way the scene was lit/Lou's & Cutler's expressions/the complete unnaturalness you alluded to - made much more sense to me that Ginsburg hallucinated it. Maybe I'm wrong.

I also don't get why it's sensational to have your threesome third wheel be a first time character. It's been pretty clear that Megan has a much larger life in LA than we've been seeing. This episode we were introduced to a part of that life. As for the sensationalism/cheapness, I don't see it. Megan's decision to try and win Don's attention by introducing another woman makes perfect sense with her jealousy stoked by Stephanie's arrival/her knowledge of Don's affairs (i.e, the idea that if she gives him that, he'll love her for it). The scene itself was salacious, but the morning after made clear that all parties were uncomfortable with what had gone on. For a show about the quick hit of easy pleasures and how they act as an obstacle towards self-understanding, showing off the shiny thing and taking off the shine seems par for the course.

It's a fictional narrative. Everything is pulled out of somebody's ass.

Oh and that steam room scene that sterling interprets as a gay come on is really them trying to hire draper away from SC&P.

Go watch it again. Make a problem go away. Or maybe they want to buy the firm?

It came off to me as being pretty much all about business and Sterling being his cheeky prick self re: the homo stuff.
