Most likely checks the waveforms before fading in the next track, it's boombap-ish stuff, it's a bit easier to hear the track in your mind as you watch it. But it takes practice and knowledge of the music you're playing to be that smooth.

I wanted to DJ about 3 years ago, practiced a bunch on my friend's Traktor control, got decent, then stopped 'cause I wanted to get better at guitar.

I can pick it up and get rich.:danson:

Was going through my CDs, hadn't listened to this in years, felt good. It was the year Danger Mouse won the grammy for producer of the year, everyone in my circle was like WTF, since Dr. Luke had completely obliterated the charts that year. Then we found out he's the one who produced Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, Jay-Z's the grey album and then discovered he was on this band. Truly ahead of his time in rock production.

Yup they're pretty good.

Kinda like the Greta kids... they've been destroyed by the critics for being Led Zep wannabees.. and it's true, but some of their songs are really good.

Yeah I heard about the Greta guys, the production sounds good, but they're so young, I think it's a matter of maturing as songwriters. All eyes are on them since they showed great promise and there's been nothing exciting going on in Rock for more than a decade. Well except besides the last Tame Impala record, but Currents is way too eclectic to be considered just rock music.

It's crazy because the whole soundcloud rap sound is just guys who want to rap but they suck, so they rely on really simple cadences and really simple beats...but it has become so mainstream and accepted in culture, that it's becoming the norm and standard in quality.

It's fascinating to me in a production stand point, because when I made those type of beats, it took me a few tries to really dumb down what I was doing. It has its own "rules", like any form of music. Sometimes, even throwing in a note that is completely off key makes it work, because the sound is so established at this point, that our ears perceive it as "right".

I guess it's just a new sound and it's catchy.. but I can't believe it could last more than a 2-3 year period. It's crazy how we accept any garbage as long as it's new..

How's that phenomenon called? Hype culture? A lot of things get hyped beyond reason and then people force themselves to pick it up even if they don't initially find the appeal to it. Kinda like hipsters liking these obscure bands that sound like absolute dogshit just because it's not known.

I was never a fan of trap music, but it's become so prevalent in culture that I kinda picked up on it. And I wanna believe I "understand" it, but I'm thinking maybe I just picked it up because a lot of people did. I mean some of it is legit good quality, like Drake, Big Sean, Travis Scott ect. But a lot of it just sounds like garbage to me.

I don't think it's hype.. I think we're really just attracted to new sounds.. I remember when dubstep came out.. it was kinda new and the sound effects were amazing. But then I would sit next to a kid in the metro and I would hear his music through his earphones for 15 minutes.. and I was like, fuck he's frying his brain cells with vacuum cleaner samples. Things like that just can't last. But they do provide a new sound that I guess you can use with parsimony here and there.

Well I think dubstep really did bring a sense of novelty and broke new ground when it came to sonics. This is different however, as it's not that new. It's basically trap music but with a new style of "rapping" on top and with a new wardrobe and appearance. I think the appeal of it is the overall rebellious energy of it, not really the novelty of the sound.

I think the hype factors in in some cases, people like to be part of things. Sometimes, they don't really like it, but if it makes them fit in...

That said, older folks can also buy hype. :trump:
