I used to watch the original series on TV when I was a child. My parents would always grimace when it was on and call it "star dreck".

Anybody watched "The Last Kingdom"?

Heard good things about it, but I really want to know what Broads thinks about it before diving in.

It was ok. Felt there was more to develop (which is probably a positive).

Enjoyed the fact that its not classic "personage".

I guess Netflix felt the same, I think they're launching season 2 (10 episodes, co-produced by them) this month.

I really liked it, but I'm a sucker for that historical medieval stuff. First episode could have, or should have been stretched out. The kid was really likeable.

Glad they renewed it.

On another note; currently watching and enjoying The Expanse. Good Sci-fi with fun political stuff in the background. The space Creole is weird and annoying though.

I tried to like it. The protagonist starts out as a child and then grows up and is played by an actor I really dislike. He is not really an actor, but a model. I couldn't stand him.

Yeah, the kid was awesome. The adult actor, not so much.

Agreed that the main actor is off putting.

But I still like the fact that the main character has deep imperfections as opposed to being a classic hero.

Just finished Colony. Fun show. Feels a little bit underdeveloped, like the dystopian world they've created isn't quite lush enough or something. That might change with a season or two more, there's lots of places to take the show and some interesting (though slightly generic) story lines to follow.

I wish they would take the budget for colony and take the budget for the man in the high castle, combine them, and spit out one decent show.

Just finished series 1 of Line of Duty.

I thought the first two episodes were excellent, but the second half of the season was a letdown, in terms of how well the story was plotted.

Good enough to try the second series, though, especially if it does get better as I've read here and elsewhere.

Many of the loose ends of season one are addressed later on the show. Season four is just beginning this month.

The fighting was also shit for the most part, down right inexcusable for a show where it's a core part of the premise.

It'd be like a sitcom casting people with no comedic talent or timing.

Rick called it szechuan teriyaki sauce, but McDonald's ads only refer to it as szechuan sauce. Either way, I'm guessing it was probably just a mixture of the BBQ and Sweet and Sour sauces.
