Screw Star Wars. I'm saying home to watch old tv movies with Richard Crenna.

In the future, all movies will be in the Star Wars or Marvel universes. Best just get used to it now, Chimmer.

I thought it was better than Force Awakens. Felt less like a paint-by-numbers storyline.

Not without flaws, but I thought all the central pieces worked every well. I'd give it a 8/10 compared to Force Awakens's 7/10.

I watched it again yesterday, my opinion of it has improved and I think it might be my favourite non-OT Star Wars movie. The casino planet shit is still annoying, but I like the rest. I think I'd agree with the 8/10 and 7/10 for TFA.

It - This probably should have been a miniseries, because it just races through the story too quickly. Everything is too mechanical - lots of scares, carefully distributed throughout, but a poor handling of suspense. No dread, no tension. Jump scares are there, but they are only disturbing on the level of a haunted house adventure. The movie looks like it should work - and it looks mostly great - but it doesn't.

The fat kid's tits are hard to get out of my head.

It was a mini-series, my film friend. It starred John Ritter as someone and it scared millions of Americans during the cold war on ABC. I will never forget it and to this day have never been able to watch Three's Company again (not even after Jack opened Jack's Bistro, which was his dream come true).

Watched it on Thursday night. I thought TFA was a bit better. Pacing for TLJ is a bit off as one of the side plots just drags on for a while.

Out of the new Disney-era SW films, I found Rogue One to be the most enjoyable, even though no Bothans died onscreen in the effort to bring the Rebellion the crucial bit of intelligence.

Assuming you're referring to the Finn side plot? Yeah. Though it wasn't as bad the second time around I found.

I enjoyed Rogue One, but I found the first half to be so slooooooooooooooow. I think I've only seen it once? So maybe I'll watch it again to see what I think about it.

Yeah, definitely the Finn side plot. They could have kept it in but trimmed it significantly to move things along.

Liked Lady Bird a lot. Actually more than I expected.

People will talk about the acting a lot (which was good), but the storytelling is such a nice refresher from Hollywood tropes. None of the characters are perfect. There is no central conflict. Motivation and goal-orientation are not straight forward. The characters connected with me because they were as screwed up as most people I know.

And it is nice to see a film about women that avoids framing women's issues as somehow inherently entrepreneurial. There is no great success story, no redemption, no role models, no villains and no financial gains, which is kinda nice because there is nothing more depressing than being told that you are not living up to the standard of being the next great genius. If you think about it you might agree that this has become corporate Hollywood's prevailing message.

Been wanting to catch that, but it’s not out on video yet, you ILLEGAL MENS! Seriously, I’ve caught a couple Greta Gerwig films before and am sorta ambivalent. I mostly can’t stand her earlier ‘mumblecore’ style films. Couple mid-20 adults sitting around talking shit and nothing happens. They seem to have low self awareness and Greta comes out playing this attractive, unassuming, un self-aware, bit of an hairhead that dates boring loser-type guys and leaves them (that seems to be her schtick). Ad nauseam. Caught Frances Ha recently which I liked. Same kinda mold as mumblecore, but this one was more mature and more enjoybale. Still quite light and aimless, but not quite so directioness than earlier works.

Lady bird is her first director release (she co-wrote many of the earlier films), seems interesting. It has the same kind of aimless feels? Did you enjoy Frances Ha?

Darkest Hour - Too many Churchill movies and they are all basically the same. I liked the Albert Finney film more, which was set in the days before the war, and then there was another one with Brendan Gleeson, which was about Churchill during the war.

They covered pretty much all of this. I don't understand why we needed this film.

The scene in the subway was unbelievable cheese. Couldn't take it seriously.

Wholeheartedly recommend the documentary "Gilbert" about comedian Gilbert Gottfried. This one is a lot of fun.

I'm a big fan of his podcast, but I think the film will please even those who don't know anything about the guy.

I rate it just above BvS, mostly because the terrible Lex isn't there, and the characters seem to be somewhat similar to their canonical versions, instead of the unrecognizable goofs shown previously. I am convinced that Snyder does not understand how people function with other people, and how groups work.

I love the role model. But the movie was so hammy. Couldn't get passed the first 30 minutes.

Like I get portraying WW2 germans as 'evil'. But how you portray any protagonist in ww1 as good or evil is disturbing.

I thought the movie did a good job of addressing the point you raised, but the important parts of that happen later in the movie.

Definitely my favourite DC movie, and in my top 5 across both cinematic universes.

Also the plot of her poisoning the guy in order to salvage their marriage was stolen from an Everybody Loves Raymond episode.
