The Force is used to assemble lightsabers and it's a knowledge only transferred from a Force user to another. It is supposed to represent the extension of the Force user who built it, his representation of the channeling of the Force through him/her. The lore has it that even the slightest misplacement of one of the energy crystals required to its construction can cause a fatal explosion.

So a lightsaber is definitely something anybody can use, but not something anybody can make.
Society is actually a bunch of flawed primates guided by selfishness, fear, and superstitious bullshit.

Han used it cut open the tauntaun so you don't need to be a Force user to use a lightsaber, at least as a tool. To do anything effective with it in a fight like deflect blaster bolts does require Force sensitivity and enhanced reflexes though. It's also handy when you decide to throw your saber if you can retrieve it telekinetically.

Using it effectively in a fight may be a different matter but if we go by what's canon, Grievous was able to kind of brute force it based on numerical superiority. Obi-Wan still had better technique, especially his finely-honed "lopping off limbs" technique.

Craig wrote:But they had the power to make 2 5 foot blades?

I think they say that anyone can use them, but only the Jedi have the mental blah blah blah to do it without killing themselves.

Pretty much, yeah. When you think about it, the balance of the weapon would be odd (I'm guessing weighted primarily towards the hilt) and who knows what the tactile feedback would be like? Sabers can lock so there has to be some substance to them and it's during those incidents that strength becomes more of a factor. Also, I'm only guessing but there must be some Force techniques to absorb thermal energy, otherwise I don't know how Jedi can cut through thick doors without getting scalded or burnt by the proximity to the melting metal.

... And why didn't obi-wan tell luke, leia was his sister, when it was obvious he wanted to get in her pants? Some sort of sick sense of humor?

Also, why so few women in space?

Everyone was younger, and had been adequately trained in the past. Flash forward to Darth & obj won they were old men and Luke had used a saber for like a couple years without any real guidence.

Colbert either missed the joke in that childhood ruined tweet or didn't care. Bill Corbett is a comedian. He was one of the voices on Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I don't think he's that thick.

He's using it for the same reason Corbett did - to illustrate the hilarity of the uproar.

If they make a SW Cinematic Universe like they do for Marvel, I see nothing wrong with that. At all.

Loving the Star Wars Rebels TV show in the first season as much as I loved Clone Wars in the later seasons.

I'm looking forward to episode VIII not being as long of a wait.

Well, Marvel IS writing Star Wars comics. There's no reason why the Guardians of the Galaxy can't meet up with the Star Wars crew.

Not impressed. As someone who gets referenced to Star Wars more then Boozer breaks the law, I know my shit. This looked okay in the beginning, but fell off. The Hans Solo scene was atrocious.
