The Leafs broad has turned into a total wasteland, but the sexist, homophobic, racist stuff was always there, it was just maybe more (and I use this word loosely) casual once. Based on those thread titles, it looks like things had already gone off the deep end, or the awful stuff was less "casual" than I remember. And to be clear, back then, I would have been one of the shittier ones.

How, legally speaking, do you propose men get a say re: abortions.

And what of the woman with the baby in her uterus, keeping in mind that the dude's equally responsible for it being there? And what of the reverse situation, wherein Fertile Fred wants the child?

I think the objection is more about having to pay child support than having a say in the abortion itself.

its pretty clear my stance is you want it, its all yours.

lol, yeah let's go with the fictional woman trap situation.

pfft.

but yeah that one gets tricky as it's more than likely a religious request and she can't exactly just spit it out into a host surrogate.... or can we.

A guy I know dated a crazy chick (note: don't date crazy chicks), who tried to yank a used condom out of the trash and get the baby batter in her.

If it was just one woman, fine. I'd still say sexism played a part in it, but you'd at least be within a couple blocks of the ballpark. But 17(!!!!!!) different women made these allegations, and the story vanished. If you think that's something to be shrugged off, or that sexism played no role in that, you're helpless.

Yeah, yeah, you psycho. Your finger pointing is irrelevant. Never said it should be shrugged off, but people do it. That's how life is.

I was contesting the idea that it had to be a male pseudo-celebrity figure for this to finally gain traction; a somewhat known female would have sufficed as well.

Never contested that sexism exists. The story didn't catch enough public wings initially but once it was nudged it took off precisely because of the number of victims. Kind of similar to the Gomeshi situation.

This would be like the Ghomeshi situation if it had gained traction in 2004.

A big part of why this went viral is that a black guy doing stand up in a way that's relatable to white people is expected (particularly by white people) to worship Cosby's jello-scented farts. A bootleg clip of Sarah Silverman making the same bit would not have gone nearly as viral. Ditto a black female stand-up like Wanda Sykes.

You need to re-read that op-ed.

It is much more framed as a critique of the exploitation of women in show business (about as banal an observation as I can imagine). Even if you do not agree with what she has to say, I think you labeling it hyperbolic is more hyperbolic than anything she wrote.

... I mean, I get that Rush Limbaugh is Rush Limbaugh, but he does realize that Cosby has been doing his responsibility shtick for a long fucking time, right? He makes it sound like Cosby went on a rant last week and now he's getting blackballed by liberals.
