Hong Kong/Macau

Post #1 by PredsFan77 » Sat Oct 29, 2016 2:24 pm

Anyone been? I'm going next month. Not sure how long I should allot for staying at each place. Wont have a chinese visa, so limited to just the territories. I guess if run out of things to do can just fly over to Tapei? I just may.

I would ask you to be safe, but a North American can fend off roughly four dozen Hongolese Kongers with his bare hands. : )

Been to both. Really enjoyed HK. Only spent an afternoon in Macau, found it to be very forgetable (other than the portuguese writen everywhere and nobodybspeaking/understanding it).

Never been to either Hanoi or Taipei. HK is cool. Bit of a Tokyo vibe, but not nearly as sprawled out and many more expats. Kowloon is a must. You could certainly spend more time if you want, but yeah if you have longer and no visa to mainland China than a quick flight elsewhere makes sense.

Ok need to lock this down: anyone been to Tapei or Singapore or Bali or Thailand (probably Bangkok)? Going to have 3-4 days after HKG to go some place else.

One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

Are you travelling on your own? Bali seems more a couples destination. Bangkok, on the other hand... I mean it's easier to visit a city on your own than go to a resort on your own. Because of the whores, obvs.
