I heard there are some hard up eligible bachelors on the devils broad, just buy them a ticket to Chicago and wrap a sign with their name, date, and flight number for your sister in law...

So I'm going to Chicago (23rd to the 27th). Staying at the Sheraton. Mrs. Plan has a conference, so what should I get up to?

It looks like this thread got truncated in the crash...

Well, pick the highlights. So many amazing bars/breweries there I really don't think you can go wrong.

As clichéd as they are, the art gallery and archeology tours were the highlights of my visits, if for some reason you want to do something that isn't eat/drink your face off.

The Cubs are in town. Even if you don't hit the game Wrigleyville (the area around Wrigley Field is still worth a visit).

If you don't want to trek out to The Map Room or Hopleaf at least hit up The Clark Street Ale House which is reasonably close to the Sheraton.

Get a table at Chicago Cut if you're a steak fan. Arguably the best in the city.

As Craig mentioned the Art Institute of Chicago is worth a visit. It's actually world class.

The archeology tour was probably an auto correct of the Architectural tour. Which is definitely worth a look.

Publican has better food and a nicer ambience. Haymarket is a brewery. Pick accordingly.

I would expect you would need a dinner reservation for Publican today though, if that's when you're planning on going.

So I went to Haymarket, average IPA's, typical American Bar. Did like the 4 Oz glasses, had 4 tiny beers left for Publican. Publican doesn't open til 3:30, so I'm at Publican Meats. Nice deli style place having a 3floylds yum yum and some water.

Publican does a plate that's just a sampling of cured pork. Basically a plate with three kinds of prosciutto on it. It's amazing. See if the Deli will give you that.

I just meant because Publican is more of a place to eat than a place to drink. Hopleaf is probably too far out if you have to meet the wife downtown again in an hour or two, so I'd be at the Map Room if I were you.

I mean you can't be wrong, it's Chicago. Everywhere is awesome.

Stopped at Wrigley field, scalpers wanted $50 for a single in the bottom of the 4th. Told them to effectively off cause they were losing to the the Philly's. Offered $20, and they gave me directions to the movie theatre.

Now at the Hopleaf, on the patio under an apple tree, enjoying a bells Oberon.

I stopped near the Magnificent Mile last time I was in Chicago. Had good food at The Purple Pig and The Gage.

For The Gage I got a reservation. Their venison burger is superb and the beer selection was good. You can't reserve for The Purple Pig though and they're enormously popular. So when I walked in I gave them my number and browsed the area for about 30-40 minutes before they called. If you are a late eater you're much more likely to get a seat right away after 10:30. They had a great octopus dish there, fried pig ears too.

Go to Haymarket and eat. I like the girl and the goat for brunch, but there's a line. Some burger place there had ridiculous lines too, but meh.

Big Star for tacos. Nice patio too.
