ok so i'm planning on a week and a couple day trip back to the land of the rising sun. Looking to branch out from the Tokyo-Kyoto-Hiroshima corridor I've spent my time at past trips. Anywhere outside of there that's worth going to? Right now thinking of going up to Hokkaido and spending some time in Sapporo. Any place up that way worth checking out besides the nuclear plant?

One of my lawyers lived in Kumamoto and Nagoya for a few years each. I can ask him if he has recommendations.

That'd be swell. At worst, haven't spent a lot of time in Osaka so could spend some time there but kind of the wrong way from Sapporo.

It has a wood door.

Old lady looks like Yoko inside. Thats Kuro. There's a poster of a giant pussy on the left. With drips of blood.

Lots of whisky and bourbon.

Have fun.

5gallons is fine. A little too much lighting for my taste but it works.

Enjoy the whores.

Any updates here?

I'm going to Tokyo from December 30th to January 8th.

Going to the Tokyo Dome for Wrestle Kingdom on January 4th and 5th, but the rest is wide open.

Ok, so near what train station do you suggest. Really only two evenings that are booked up and even then, we'd likely go out after the show.

The rest we will be exploring Tokyo.

My favourite spots:

Shinjuku in general but Golden Gai (try a few spots. Be respectful. Don't be an ass to the bartenders. Say hi to Kuro)
Do the Robot Restaurant. Its pretty funny in a crazy tourist way that only the japanese can pull off.
Harajuku (especially the main walking street)
Shibuya for clothes shopping
Kappabashi has the most fun restaurant stores (like supplies for restaurants). The knife district especially is astounding.

Where are you staying (i.e., near which train station)?

Still gotta book a hotel. Near what train station do you suggest?

We found a cheap flight ($1000 for direct and return) and the January 4th Tokyo Dome event is a bucket list item, so my brother and I booked.... we still have 6 months to do the details like getting our Wrestle Kingdom tickets, hotel etc...

https://www.tokyometro.jp/library_in/en ... n_1803.pdf

Anywhere along the loop line is not bad (I.e. Yamanote line)
But if you can be in Shinjuku or near Hibiya or Tokyo or Asakusa stations, you'll have access to different train lines.

The thing is, keep in mind this is a 30+ million people city, so its gonna take 15-20 minutes of train to go from anywhere to anywhere. The difficulty isn't getting the rails right. The difficulty is leaving the stations by the right exits onto the streets that are closest to where you're walking to. Read the exit signs well.

Tokyo isn't great on "addresses" in the North American way. I highly recommend renting a local phone or portable wifi at the airport to connect you on google maps wherever you go.

No New Japan Pro wrestling

Founded by Antonio Inoki... who you may have heard of from having a boxing vs wrestling match against Muhammad Ali in the 1970s

The annual January 4th Tokyo Dome show is the japanese sports equivalent of the super bowl.

To be clear im going to japan... to go to fucking japan.

Marrying the trip to be at the same time as the biggest day in their "sports" calendar was just the gravy.
