Last will and testament

Post #1 by Craig » Thu Aug 31, 2017 5:09 pm

Apparently now that I have a child I should get a will. What'd you lot do for that? My needs are incredibly basic, is there some sort of free will kit I can use?

I got a guy to do mine, but I do some for others.

Get a cheap Ontario lawyer to help you out.

Its never simple when you have young kids. Because you have to decide what happens if you and your wife both die in the next 15 years or so with their legal guardian until they're 18. (and what happens if your 1st choice is already dead)

And you may want to split their guardian from the person administering your will and money. Just a thought. Or not, depending on how much you trust any of these people.

And what happens if you die in 19 years. Do you trust your little one with her inheritance at 19, or do you want to give her some and keep some until she matures.

We just did ours. Went to a lawyer, he basically asks you all the questions banana just did, and pumps out a will.

The trickiest bit are the few years before 18 and the few years after.

If you both die and your kid is 16, you don't want to give to many assets to the guardian, but if they just turn 18, you don't want them to be able to access everything either.

Greg's offspring might solve your daughter's only child syndrome. Good thinking.

I don't need anymore kids but a six pack of beer and a jar of your famous nuts would be nice!

do you have access to Law Depot? Some public libraries make It available.
