What a shame London has to go to the Memorial Cup through the back door.

Bwahahahahaha!!!

It makes the OHL final that much better. They'll win the Memorial Cup though.

Hard call. When it's a short tournament like that, any team there can win. However, I'd love to see them become the OHL version of the Buffalo Bills. A long layoff can go one of two ways - well rested or rusty.

Not that it really matters, but it shows how fucking pathetic this league is:

OntarioHockeyLeague ‏@OHLHockey
Congrats @GoLondonKnights on tremendous #OHLPlayoffs run - 9 straight series wins - 10th #OHL team to win back-to-back Robertson Cups '12/13

No other departing team has received congratulations from the OHL, nor did they congratulate Guelph, Oshawa or Erie for winning their series.

Shawinigan came and won it in 2012 after a very, very lengthy layoff. That home crowd really helps in the Mem Cup. I'm hoping Erie and Guelph hurt each other a lot in the next round. Nothing easy, it must go seven games and multiple overtimes.

Yes, but recent history shows differently:

2009 - Rimouski - first team eliminated
2010 - Brandon - lost in final
2011 - Mississauga - lost in final
2013 - Saskatoon - first team eliminated

I have a feeling the Knights will want to make up for their disappointing playoffs, and will come out guns blazing in the Memorial Cup. But I won't be heartbroken if they don't.

Another for the "OHL is pathetic" files. This was ruled a Guelph no-goal on review. Luckily it didn't affect the outcome of a game.

They really missed Maata, and I don't know if Stolarz will be available because he still has three games left. If Oshawa makes it somehow, then I really hope that the Knights don't win it.

Their defense corps was decimated, between Maatta not returning (but they knew that early on), Bell going down and Austin being diagnosed with mono. Two OA d-men when they went into playoffs with just 6 experienced defensemen was a recipe for disaster.

I would put money on Stolarz playing game 1 of the Memorial Cup, unless they choose to start Patterson However, goaltending wasn't their downfall.

As much as North Bay is a feel good story, I don't think they have much of a chance vs the Gens. They could surprise, but I wouldn't put money on it.

The OHL has waived the last 2 games of Stolarz' suspension, so he'll be in game 1 of the Memorial Cup.

I walked away from the game for about 4 minutes and missed 2 goals and got back in time to see a Guelph goal. Definitely not a goaltending duel.

Western Conference hockey is so high octane, goaltending and defense is hardly ever a factor lol. This North Bay-Oshawa match up has the chance of being a real tightly contested affair. Like, 3-2 games the norm. It could honestly go either way.

The Oshawa-North Bay game was fantastic! I started watching Guelph-Erie but got bored - no defense, but at least Nichols was better tonight.

I was really hoping for a game 6 in Erie, but the way it's looking, a game 5 might be a stretch.

Erie is getting killed. Oshawa is going to get swept too. No way they're winning two in North Bay. They may take one for North Bay in five, but that's it.

It's going to be entertaining watching a friend of mine who was a Brampton fan, then become a Storm season ticketholder when Brampton moved.

He says he's a Guelph fan now, but I can't see him cheering against Goodrow.

Erie wins tonight to force a game 5. North Bay wins to make it 3-0.

I expect Guelph will come out flying at home on Friday night.

Wish I'd seen this -- love her!! I haven't talked to her in a bit, but this must be eating at her something awful.

As for the game, North Bay is doing everything right to shut down the Gens and the score shows it. It might have been better for the Gens if they'd had a tougher path to the conference finals. North Bay learned what they needed to do vs Niagara, and the team was forced to come together to win.

Well they played tough games. Most games in the first two rounds were one goal games. But those teams don't come close to matching the size, speed and experience of North Bay. The Generals have six rookies in the lineup, and two important ones on D. It's a shame, but if you look back in the thread, I had said that I think this was our CF and that NB would take it.

I expected the series to go at least 6 games. Wow... congrats to North Bay. Considering those folks waited 11 years to get a team back, this is nice.

I don't think they'll be able to handle Guelph (assuming Guelph finishes off Erie on Friday night - if they don't, then gawd only knows), but it should be a fantastic final.

If North Bay does win the OHL, I know a bunch of Brampton fans that will slash up.

The one thing the Generals have always had is great kids. Not just good players, but quality kids. I hate the last game of an OHL'ers career. It's always so hard to watch.

LOL - sucks, doesn't it?

Dal Colle is a lot of fun to watch - I wouldn't be averse to the Flyers drafting him, but I think he'll be long gone by then.

I am very much looking forward to watching Laughton in orange and black. I just hope to hell Holmgren is fired before he can package him in a trade for an aging goon.

I just read an article about it. Gawd, I hope the accusations are false.

Most teams spend a lot of time finding the right families for players. There have been a lot of stories about billet moms and/or their friends with players -- also dead fucking wrong.

Guelph-North Bay final.

My friend Steve is probably ready to slash up. On the other hand, he won't be disappointed no matter who wins.

The schedule is really screwy.

Game 1, Thurs., May 1 North Bay at Guelph, 7:00
Game 2, Fri., May 2 North Bay at Guelph, 7:00
Game 3, Tues., May 6 Guelph at North Bay, 7:00
Game 4, Wed., May 7 Guelph at North Bay, 7:00
Game 5, Fri., May 9 North Bay at Guelph, 7:00*
Game 6, Sun., May 11 Guelph at North Bay, 2:00*
Game 7, Mon., May 12 North Bay at Guelph, 7:00*

Two back to back games, with 4 days off in between.

City stinks, but that atmosphere up there is OUTSTANDING.
