Re: 2023-24 Annual General Meeting - Off-season (AGMO)
A1 - when the 'dead' teams don't hit their mins this is going to cause issues, with the flag rule at least there's bumpers to keep them on the right track.
B1 - again without a corresponding increase in IR spots, any injury spike is going to cause issues for teams. myopic rule.
C1 - only an issue when a bedard-like prospect is available...tank better
D1 - GM better, trade deadlines exist for a reason
E3 - percentage will future-proof having to keep upping the limit for any future inflation while keeping the spirit of the rule intact
F3 - See A1, C1 and D1. Also needs to be a standard if you keep not hitting your mins you get the boot
G1 - tank better

Re: 2023-24 Annual General Meeting - Off-season (AGMO)
A2 (Whatever we do, it needs to be something that we don't need to manually track to ensure compliance)
B2 (It's not just 1 team gaining an advantage, it ends up putting a bunch of useful players on waivers as people can and do, claim and drop the same day. Another potential option would be forcing GMs to keep claimed players for a certain amount of time, say... a week or something. But I don't think that's possible with Ftrax?)
C (Don't like any of the options really, just encourages more tanking. I'd like to see better odds across the board with all teams having a chance to get #1 spot)
D1
E (I don't really care about the figure, I think we need to eliminate the bonus cap so we always have a hard cap so we don't need to manually check rosters to see compliance)
F3
G (I'd prefer to fix the odds so they are more even across all teams, and all could win so it reduces incentive to tank)
My 2 biggest things I want:
- Eliminate the need for manually checking/snitching on rules (flagged players and bonus cap). Lets just have rules (or no rules) that don't rely on some people checking
- Discourage tanking by giving all teams a chance to win lotto, and give bottom teams less odds. Also makes trading for draft picks more interesting.

I like it. Personally, I hate the North American way of rewarding losers/bad teams. Wish there was a relegation system in place but I don't believe the market would support it so I get it.

I'm not sure I understand that tweet. Like, of course the union is open to raising the cap by more than a million. Most people are open to getting paid more.

I think the reason this is news is that going beyond the $1m bump next season was not previously on the table by either side, and now it is.

The thing is it might lead to escrow, which effects some contract more than others.

I think it's more if it gets pushed higher, players put more in escrow which they don't like obviously.

Re: 2023-24 Annual General Meeting - Off-season (AGMO)
So we have 12 of 15 GM's recording votes. The count is as follows:
So A2, C3, & G1 will be implemented. I am making the executive decision to enact E3. Issue F will be dealt with on a case by case basis, but seems monthly check-in and making the min GP's is the consensus minimum standard at this time. Issues B & D don't seem to have much legs at the moment.
Issue A: GM's using more than alloted flagged players on roster and hiding stars in reserve in order to tank.
1. Do nothing. Tanking is good, and a few bent rules is okay. (2 Votes)
2. Eliminate the flag rule. The minimum GP takes care of this. (10 Votes)
3. Eliminate minimum required roster position rule (making the flag rule redundant). If a GM doesnt have to meet the position requirements they no longer need to ice flagged players to be compliant. (0 Votes)
Issue B: GM's using FA for daily starts to expand their GP roster without taking equal cap hit.
1. Do nothing. If a GM wants to go to this length to gain that small advantage so be it. (5 Votes)
2. Set a reasonable max FA/WW claim limit. (7 Votes)
Issue C: Draft lotto odds. Right now last place has like 46% chance at 1st overall, 2nd and 3rd last have nothing.
1. Do nothing. It's worked so far. (2 Votes)
2. Give 2nd and last 3 lotto balls in the move one and move three draws (but nothing in the move 5 draw). (1 Votes)
3. Go to a more conventional draw for the 1st three picks giving the bottom 3 four balls in the lotto. (8 Votes)
Issue D: Restricting FA/WW claims after the deadline causes GMs to miss mins and not have full rosters. This rule was in place to prevent GM's from dumping players after the reach their mins and grabbing futures prior to the draft.
1. Do nothing. GMs need to plan better. (5 Votes)
2. Move the claim deadline to later after the trade deadline. (Say 4 weeks before end of season.) (2 Votes)
3. Open right until last day. (5 Votes)
Issue E:Bonus Cap ($5M+$5M) not keeping up with rising cap.
1. Do nothing. (3 Votes)
2. Raise it to $6M/$7M/$8M? (1 Vote)
3. Have it pegged to a percentage of the cap (7.5%). (6 Votes)
Issue F:GM dereliction. In a perfect world GM should be checking in every couple days/weekly. We have a pretty good group here, but there are some prolonged stretches where some are less active, but should there be the limit?
1. Don't care/new GMs aren't exactly plentiful. (2 Votes)
2. As long as they make their mins and check in monthly. (5 Votes)
3. GMs generally need to be checking in weekly. (5 Votes)
4. If you don't get back to my trade request in 24 hours, you're out. (0 Votes)
Issue G:GM stashing star players in reserve in order to tank.
1. Do nothing. Tanking is part of the fun. (10 Votes)
2. Reduce the number of reserve spots to 4. (2 Votes)
So A2, C3, & G1 will be implemented. I am making the executive decision to enact E3. Issue F will be dealt with on a case by case basis, but seems monthly check-in and making the min GP's is the consensus minimum standard at this time. Issues B & D don't seem to have much legs at the moment.

This is the first I've heard of such a proposla (unless I forgot, which is entirely likely), and I'm not sure how many votes it'd get other than (I'm sensing) yours.
I've thought about it briefly, and I am not against it per se. We'd still be on an equal field, just with less talent most likely.

I don't think we should have 2 separate caps. Choose 1 number so that there needs to be no monitoring of who is going over because Fantrax will automatically deal with it. Or perhaps we can ask Fantrax to see if they could implement changing the cap amount during the season?
Seems like we've dealt with the other issue of eliminating the flag rule where people had to check on it.

Re: 2023-24 Annual General Meeting - Off-season (AGMO)
On a very related note, this was just announced:
This means, with our 7.5% pegger, our bonus will be $6,262,500 for a total of 89,762,500 during the regular season (if I have this right).
As for the bonus cap in the off-season, did we remember to settle whether that would be a flat $5m or the 7.5%?

it's 7.5%+7.5%. But I will round to the nearest nice looking number ($250,000).
So this year we will go with $6.25M and $6.25M bonus.

Re: 2023-24 Annual General Meeting - Off-season (AGMO)
Issue B option 2 is the closest in keeping with the spirit of forming and fielding a full and complete team for a full and complete season.
Issue D option 3 is the closest to the real thing. If a player is an FA in February, any team can sign them and immediately have them log minutes. Why should ours be different? When combined with Issue B option 2 it is the closest to reality, which is of course the opposite of fantasy. D2 also received the most votes for this issue, and while not a majority, we can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink.

We've had some good ones in the past. But last season it was pretty obvious Predo had it locked up and no one wanted to trade for a rental.
