Does anyone know where I can get a freebie? This is such an overpriced ripoff.

If you have a student email usually you can get some version for pretty cheap.

You'd think so, but no. I have an e-mail as an alumnus and it's no go.

Can I do tracked changes in this?

Right now I'm getting by with Google docs, but it's not great. Doesn't even tell me the word count.

It's months after the fact but in case anyone does work for a large company, there's always Microsoft's Home Use Program (HUP):

Of course, this was a lot better in the days when you could get the standalone Office suite for ~$15 CAD rather than being forced to go with their subscription model. I believe educational institutes have their own version.

Question:: Why is Dr. Chimera obsessed with word count?
