Mammoth of a beer being sold for $1,000 per bottle
James Walton of Storm Brewing reached back into the ice age for his latest beer creation.
And you may have to dig into your savings to buy a bottle.
There are ten bottles of Storm’s Glacial Mammoth Extinction being sold for $1,000 each.
At 25 per cent alcohol content, Glacial Mammoth Extinction is a beast of a beer but it’s the bottle itself that is the work of art.
Each one of the glass bottles, created by artist Richard Marcus, is affixed with a mammoth tusk pendant.
“(The tusks) are by-products of gold mining. The artist found a bunch of it from Yukon mining operations years ago. It’s legal ivory … no mammoths were killed just for this ivory,” Walton joked.

The beer itself is damn good. I had it over a year ago at Ailbi Room and I imagine it has only improved since then. I'll probably pick up a half liter growler of it, the beer alone without the bottle is "only" $80/ liter.
