I saw that!
This Canucks team is at least interesting to watch this year. Only on an individual level but getting to watch Virtanen and Boeser has been fun. Still hate Gagner and would rather he and Vanek be on someone else's team.

I don’t mean for others. There’s two young guys and injuries should provide opportunity for the others in the minors. Last year was devoid of any interest. The style the team plays is boring and they lack the personelle to be abt more interesting, though.

Heh, yeah I know, I was beeing facetious... nice to have more storylines than the simple "let's see if we can make our way into the playoffs over 7% odds!"

no point in tanking with the new lottery rules. just gotta hope for the 8th spot every year and win the lottery when that fails :)

Boeser has 9 points in 8 games! Dorsett leads the team in goals! Baertschi looks legit! Sedins look terrible, though.

I've been in the Yukon for 2 weeks and just going back to the hotel room at night where there's been games on a few times... I kinda just didn't care and watched something else.
I think I may be done with hockey except for casual playoff watching.
Tis an end of an era.
I mean, I don't really have time these days to commit 2.5 hrs to anything. A weekly NFL game is about it, and once Brady retires I'm probably done there too.

He's had more accounts 2 weeks than I've had in 5 years.
Does he have a job? Or is that his job?

They’re bumping up prices, too, so I’m going to have to switch to something else.
What do you recommend, young grasshopper?

This may be controversial but he's good.
Elias Petterson is amazing in the SHL. Leads the league in points as a 19 year old. Dominating games, scoring and assisting. God I hope this stupid management doesn't insist that he puts on 20 pounds and fucks him up.

I find parts of the team fun. As soon as they get tired, it's pretty much last year's team. Would still love to see Goldobin in over Gagner or Burmistrov.

He’s going to get 7 minutes of ice time and none of it in the third.

lmao. what the fuck are these people doing.

Earlier this month, however, it was suggested that the Canucks might not want to trade Vanek in case the Sedins decide not to return next season. While the Sedins’ decision really shouldn’t have much bearing on what they do with Vanek, it appears to be weighing heavily on Benning’s mind.
On TSN’s Insider Trading, McKenzie reported that “the first priority at this point is to try to negotiate an extension with Gudbranson.”
He continued to state that there have been no “specific contract talks” but that the Canucks and Gudbranson’s agent will meet in the coming weeks with the goal of negotiating a “multi-year extension.”
“Only if they can’t get that extension done does he become a likely move at the deadline as a rental and they’re getting lots of calls on him at this time,” finished McKenzie.

It’s utterly disgusting. A guy walks up, punches you in the face in full view of everyone, loudly declares “I didn’t punch anyone in the face!” ...and everyone murmurs, “Checks out”, “I agree”, “Even if he did, it happens to all of us”, etc.
I suspect Botchford is right – Linden gave an ultimatum and rather than solving both problems at once with this solution gifted on a silver platter, Aquilini caved.

Re: Okay, I'll start a thread for 2017-18
Thomas Vanek has been on seven different NHL teams since the 2013-14 season and traded thrice during that time span, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise when the Vancouver Canucks shipped the winger to the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday ahead of the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline.
In return, the Canucks get back veteran winger Jussi Jokinen and 22-year-old centre Tyler Motte.
Motte, a fourth-round pick of the Blackhawks in 2013 has 64 games of NHL experience over the past two years. He had three goals and two assists in 31 games with the Blue Jackets this season in addition to the 11 points he has with the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters.
Jokinen, meanwhile, joins his fourth team of the 2017-18 campaign. The 34-year-old spent 14 games with Edmonton, 18 with L.A. and 14 with Columbus, registering a total of one goal and seven points.
