Lou doesn't speak in definitive statements.
"So Lou I heard you car was broken into last night."
"Yeah, an unfortunate event occurred. It's disappointing for me and my family. We're going to move along just fine."

Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos reported during Hockey Night in Canada's "Headlines" segment on Feb. 3 that Leivo had requested a trade - something Lamoriello denied on Monday.
"Josh has never made a (trade) request to my knowledge," he told Jonas Siegel of The Athletic.

There must be a clause somewhere (or a lack of an explicit one saying the opposite) that says the NHL medical team and the AHL medical team aren't the same thing and the decisions of one don't imply the judgement of the other. AHL docs: "looks fine!" NHL docs, "We'll need a third opinion after I get back from Maui."

Even better, the Leafs medical team can only perform their assessment if the player is present.
According to Soshnikov's agent, he conveniently took the day off today.

Pretty sure it works like this...player is not cleared to play and requires conditioning to evaluate health. Player is sent to scrub goon league to get in 'shape'. Then after recall is evaluated.

I get why other team fans are butthurt though.

The way I see, we didn't hire Loophole Lou so we could play nice. If it's within the CBA as written, then why not take full advantage of it?

My guess is that people who were upset about the Corrado situation are upset about Leivo of Sosh for similar reasons and less because of "potential cap manipulation". Then again, we do have some fucking stunned fans.

Re: ongoing 2017-2018 season discussion
From an Athletic article today about how Marner's addition to Kadri's line has give n the Leafs some of that danger they had last season:
Babcock has recently veered away from hard matching Kadri against top lines and has instead split those duties up between the 27-year-old and Matthews.
“It hasn't been as much as hard matching as it has been six against six,” Babcock explained before the game against the Lightning, a fun back-and-forth tilt that gave the Leafs their eighth win in the last nine games. “We decided, basically, that we felt either group could do it and it gave better flow off our bench.”

To be fair to Babs, the Matthews line has been destroyed by Bergeron, Crosby, Toews and MacKinnon in the past couple of months so there is still a time and a place for his line matching.

They are going to have to if they face off against Boston, you don't want Matthews' line against Bergeron all game long if you can help it.

Another Domi in blue and white.
2. Max Domi scored his fourth of the year to open Arizona’s stunning 6–1 victory over Chicago on Monday night. It has been a hard year for the talented forward. The Coyotes are prepared to give him a fresh start, pending a fair offer. If it doesn’t come before the deadline, expect it at the draft. I do think Montreal will took a look, but I don’t know if that’s going anywhere.

Leivo and Sosh for Dvorak + lou saying gimmie a pick.
I doubt the London pairing gets reunited with the recent success the Kadri line is having, but meh..london knights.

Sparks/Pickard + Leivo/Sosh for Fox/Kylington/Rasmussen from Calgary.
Depending on which guy we are targeting we might need to add but as the basis of a deal I can get behind this. Less interested in Kylington because he’s a lefty.

Re: ongoing 2017-2018 season discussion
Apparently LA wants to add a 'mid-level' scoring forward. Wonder if they'd want JVR, though LA doesn't really have anything of interest that they'd be willing to part with. Would be pretty hilarious though if they traded their first, end up missing the playoffs and we won the lottery with it
Blake doesn't seem that stupid though.

Good little player. Not better than any of our other young wing options at the moment, however. That's the thing with amassing lots of assets: they can't all fit on your roster.

It's different now. Those Toronto boys that always dreamed about a cup run and a parade down younge street, will start to look at it as a real possibility.
