Summer Recess 2: The Search for Curly's Gold

Post #1 by senate » Tue May 01, 2018 2:54 pm

The offseason is starting off with a bang:

So I guess Dorion spent the last month criticizing Boucher in the press just for the fun of it. I wonder if the decision came down to budget or if Dorion was hoping for a specific coach to be fired after round one.

Some bright news, at least, from Garrioch's Sun article:

Dorion’s expectation is that Boucher will implement the use of the young players and the team will practice more.

Ville Pokka, the centerpiece to the controversial Chris DiDomenico deal that caused the Bytown Boozer to quit this board in disgust, has jumped ship to the KHL.

I trust Dorion with the draft, what I don't trust him with is the trades. He'll get a decent player, and he's always killing it with his second round picks.

I like the Brassard deal, and I like that he goes after guys he wants, but yeah, he always seems to go a 2nd rounder or first round prospect too far.

In terms of the draft, I like that he gets a high percentage of NHLers with his picks, but I could use a homerun swing pick now and again. But I fully expect to see Tkachuk called at No. 4 this year, and while he may round into a nice middle 6 guy with character, he's not what this team needs.

The Sens don't have a 2nd round pick this year

Where does one even find a Murder She Wrote gif? I know the interweb is full of abject alcoves and forlorn recesses, but I think I will never fully realize just how forsaken and desolate it can get.

Twitter is one of the nicest, politest places on the internet. If you keep encountering angry people there, then maybe you are the problem. :colbert:

Amazingly, he was actually right. Jimmy Blixt and Justin Murray were removed from the staff page on the Senators website today.

The smallest hockey ops in the NHL gets smaller, just like Melnyk and Dorion promised it would at the town halls.

Justin Murray, aka Hockeybroads alumni, backdoorpass, is Tim Murray's son.

Just follow the Central Scouting rankings and take the next best player available. Who needs to pay for scouting when someone does it already?

You gotta factor in Myers-Briggs. What if Tkachuk ends up being a green?
