WOOOOOOO!
At least it’s not blacked out.
Not sure what to expect tonight. I’m hoping pride + Babs has the guys more focussed on working tonight than they were against Detroit.

Maybe someone should remind Hughson how great the Bruins were at kicking the Canucks asses in the playoffs? He might stop slobbering on their knobs long enough to react.

Maybe Babcock needs to tell them the game starts at 5 PM. They might actually show up in time for puck drop then.

Jean Hebert and Kyle Rehman. Once again we get a French ref and take a look at our team records when these guys call our games.

Finally ruined the shutout. Hey Mike, maybe when we're down a few goals in the third and need offence, shorten the bench and staple the 4th line's asses to the bench?

What happened with Hyman and Hainsey? I turned it off part way through the third.

A bit of a late hit from Hyman against the boards sent McAvoy to the quiet room. Hyman got a 5 minute major for interference but it was cancelled out by some Bruins stupidity (5 minute major for crosschecking to Grzelcyk) so it was 5-on-5. Both Grzelcyk and Hyman got game misconducts so they hit the showers early.
The Bruins weren't finished and Wagner tried to headhunt Rielly. Hainsey wasn't having any of that shit and dropped the mitts with Wagner. Good for Ron for stepping up.

I kind of miss having Orr in the lineup for this. He would've one-punched Wagner and knocked him the fuck out for trying to take a run at Rielly.

Re: Our Beloved 13 Times World Champs visit Boston Bruins - 7:00 PM CBC
I turned it off and rolled over to sleep after the 2nd.
It’s possible to overreact to a couple of games but I do think this team needs to address its toughness in a couple of ways. I’ve been saying for awhile that another biggish guy who can do some of what Hyman does on the forecheck and doesn’t shy away from the bullshit a team like Boston will throw at you would be great. But, I also think some of our younger skill guys need to sack up a bit and start to play with a bit more starch in their shorts. I don’t need Matthews to be a bruiser but he’s got the size and strength to dominate down low and - at the very least - straighten up guys who want to take runs. Think of how Jagr used to stick his ass out and repel people who’d try to hit him. I get that Matthews is trying to be creative and likes to get open to shoot but he could do a lot for the team on a night like last night by just keeping it simple and keeping the puck in their end.
Tavares could be a little meaner too. It can’t always be down to Kadri to give a guy an extra shot after the whistle to remind him to keep his distance.
I also don’t like how we play in front of Freddie. On goalmouth scrambles you see the B’s all collapse to the front and basically just find a body to crosscheck or throw an elbow into. Our guys are checking sticks. Yeah, you score with your stick, but you also rush what you’re doing and fuck it up when you’re certain there’s a forearm headed for your chops if you have your head down looking for a loose puck.

I'm with you Courage, I am beginning to lean this way as well. At some point soon Marchment and Grundstrom will inject some sand paper, but we need some veteran toughness as it can't just fall on a couple of rooks. Someone like Wayne Simmonds or Josh Anderson would do wonders for us as would a guy like Adam Mcquaid. Im typically not a fan of such players but there just isn't any push back in our game.

I think it was 6-1 at that point, so he ran McAvoy and then filled in Grezlyck who tried to come to his defense. The hit was dirty, but at it showed that he cared and did not just accept getting dummied by the Bruins.

As much as I like him, if he continues to produce, Johnsson is the guy I’d be dangling to get that kind of help. A non-playoff club willing to part with a guy like Simmonds might want a young, skilled, cost-controlled guy like Johnsson to play in the middle 6.

Matt Martin at Ennis' salary would be good.
Wonder if any such character would be available at the deadline

Losing Martin, Polak and Komarov was a huge boost to offensive depth, but games like last night show how important toughness can be too (not necessarily fighting)
Although Leo was a shell of himself last year he'd still get the elbows flying in big games.
Simmonds at least brings some of both elements. There's probably some others out there too. Dubas has never shied away from putting some grit on his teams so we'll see how he addresses it.
