Video Games for Eight-Year-Old Nephew

Post #1 by chicpea » Thu Dec 13, 2018 9:06 pm

Hi all,

Not being an x-box person, I'd like your help in choosing which games to buy for my nephew for Christmas.

I thought about fort nite, but it looks a bit too violent. He already has NHL of course. Thoughts are appreciated.

I've never played it - because I only have a playstation - but I heard Cuphead is great. And I would love to play it myself some day.

Unless your nephew's parents are hardcore Christians they should be fine with it.

Overcooked is another one to consider. I played it at a friend's house and it is good, clean fun for kids.

I don't recommend Fortnite.

I did not. It seemed too violent to me. I bought some lego game I think. He only likes lego and hockey. Already has hockey. I suggested buying a second version of the same game in case on game got deleted but my brother cautioned me against this. It's his child and his house. So I play by his rules. My child would've gotten the back-up game.

This is good ... the BR version of Fortnite (which is what made the game go supernova) is free. I am surprised at the age of some of the kids playing it. A good friend's son that is that age is a regular player apparently, for example.

Also, let's keep this thread about Galchenyuk's on-ice performance, development and value and NOT bring in his personal life or race.

My kid only plays Lego games and EA Hockey as well. He already knows how to cheese goals glove side from the top of the circle.

It's the circle of life.

Hi again, everyone.

It is that time of year again: Remembrance Day, which is the trigger for many Canadians to buy violent video games for their nephews and nieces. I have those even though I didn't ask for them but it's a fact.

My nephew is at the age (3-17) where he hates me (because I mentioned his hair cut is dumb) and he wants to hit me with sticks so I'd really like to impress him this year with a great game - something like Zork! or Pole Position.

What do your nephews and nieces like? Do they hate you?

Everybody hates me. It is part of my charm.

Even those who say that they don't hate me know that deep down they really do.

I didn't have it, but rented it a couple of times. Was indeed a nice game
This whole idea that we are even important is a fucking illusion. We’re just an accident left to our own devices.
